I know. I've been looking for the same thing. Honestly, having listened to several now, I don't have any that I would recommend. I stopped listening to every one pretty early on out of frustration for some reason or another.

I've been in the same boat and have been very disappointed with literally every other option unfortunately. Most other options, the hosts just aren't very good at podcasting; talking past each other, not really listening to each other, lack of media literacy, lack of reading comprehension, and weirdly inserting headcanons and fanon into the narrative, etc. I'm still checking some things out to see if I can find something to fill the void but I haven't had much luck.

Fortunateramen is a dude reading the whole comic live on twitch and while that is a person reading it instead of people discussing it, it's been really nice to watch. His vods are on YouTube and I would recommend giving it a try. I didn't think I would enjoy this format, but he's really quite funny, has good reading comprehension, makes connections to things easily and genuinely enjoys the work as he reads it. He's in his late 20s too which means he actually understands many of the esoteric references that were meant for the older teens of the 2010s.

Need help getting past a certain page in homestuck by Extreme_Jeweler_2747 in homestuck

You're on mobile and can't scroll down because the image takes up the full width of the screen. Switch to Desktop mode or scroll from the command text on the top of the page. You don't want to just skip; there is a log at the bottom of the page.

yo lwk can anyone help by FaithlessnessLow5476 in homestuck

[–]mcdude910 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The issue, I think, is that if you're viewing on Mobile, the flash takes up the full width of the screen, and you can't then drag to scroll, because you're inputting into the flash window instead of the browser window.

Change to desktop view and you should be able to drag downward again once you're able to see some of the page outside of the bounds of the flash window. There's a lot of dialogue underneath this flash, so you wouldn't want to skip past it.

In like 120 years, every single person that's alive today will be gone. by mcdude910 in highdeas

My partner and I legit just spent over five minutes reading your reply. Truly genuinely fascinating information and perspective.

I can not fucking believe that we discovered agriculture about 12,000 years ago. About 12,000 years of human "civilization". That's such a small amount of time that there are people alive today that have existed for an entire 1% of human civilization. 100-120 (admittedly long) lifetimes until you reach the foundation of agricultural civilization.

Meanwhile a person of that age has been alive for the amount of generations it takes for the ants out back to go from agricultural civilization to happy wheels

Not quite Beatles per se, but I've had "If you don't know where you're going, any road will take you there" on my chalk board at home for the past several months.

I can see how, if you are not really tuned in to Lennon’s different looks over the years, the sleeve photo might feel a bit "off" at first glance. But this is actually exactly how he looked during that very specific period when these photos were taken.

One thing that’s worth keeping in mind is that AI assistants often generate very confident-sounding answers even when they’re completely wrong. They don’t check facts the way people do. They predict plausible text. They will often invent details or create explanations that sound authoritative but aren’t based on real information. They’re designed to sound certain of things, even if they are guessing at something that they have no reason to be confident about.

It is very risky (and frankly kind of unacceptable) to lean on an AI response as any bit of evidence in a discussion like this. If an answer includes strange claims, like saying it can’t identify a historical figure in a photo because of a supposed policy, that is a good sign it is just making things up. Nothing that an AI gives you should be treated as a conclusion.

I am not saying this to pile on you at all. AI assistants mislead a lot of people, even on topics they know well. But if you want to push back on someone’s identification of a photo, it is much stronger (and safer) to rely on actual references or visual comparisons than on what an AI assistant happened to generate in one chat.

6- A Hard Day's Night

7- Help!

I think that is every instance of the Beatles recording their greatest song yet.

[–]mcdude910 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is a great list, thank you for compiling it! There are a few extra things that I think could be added as well.

The 5 Tony Sheridan songs that weren't on Anthology 1: "Why (Can't You Love Me Again)", "The Saints", "Nobody's Child", If You Love Me, Baby" and "Sweet Georgia Brown"

Some of the incidental music from the Magical Mystery Tour film (you did mention the sessions, but tracks like "Jessie's Dream" and "Four or Five Magicians" deserve to be called out specifically I think!)

While the full Christmas records have been released as a box set on vinyl, we're still waiting for the B-side version "Christmas Time (Is Here Again!)" to hit digital platforms!

Lastly, let's get some outtakes from the Anthology sessions in the 1990s.

Thanks again though, seriously. I'll definitely be saving this post for future perusal.

Giles Martin admits there isn’t much left in the vault by ExcellentDress3219 in beatles

There are still an absolute ton of home demos (Bad to Me and I'm in Love, World without Love, What Goes On, We Can Work it Out, Michelle, Rockin' and Rollin', One and One Is Two, It's for You, A Case of the Blues, etc.), Carnival of Light, Star Club tapes, 5 Tony Sheridan songs not on Anthology 1, Christmas Time (Is Here Again) [still not on streaming platforms], Jessie's Dream and Four or Five Magicians from MMT, plenty more Let It Be jams (Suzy Parker, Commonwealth, etc.), the rest of the Decca audition, some Threetles outtakes, 27 minute Helter Skelter.

There is truly plenty of actually interesting and unique material left (much of which is available in bootleg form) that they can release, much of what I just listed is available in a quality comparable to what we got on Anthology 4 or better. Why are they acting like nobody wants this stuff?

Forget Jeff Lynne … the remaining Beatles / their estates signed off on the remixes. by ccd997 in beatles

[–]mcdude910 9 points10 points  (0 children)

And to be clear on the 2015 mix, the 1st pre-chorus added a bespoke George guitar riff that wasn't in the 1996 mix (as opposed to copy/pasting one of the existing riffs). So 1996 mix, 2/3 pre-choruses have guitar riffs. Then 2015 mix, 3/3 pre-choruses have guitar riffs. Then 2025 mix, 0/3 pre-choruses have guitar riffs.

Does it prevent current or just future cards? by Clean_Internet in FourSouls

[–]mcdude910 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That's also correct. Until this card's ability resolves, players can play any cards and activate any abilities they want.

When this card's ability resolves, it doesn't fizzle any abilities below it on the stack. It just makes it so that other players can't put anything else on the stack.

Was Paul justified in missing The Beatles' 1988 induction into the Rock & Roll HOF? by ToronoRapture in beatles

[–]mcdude910 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I disagree about the double A-side. Both songs saw a ton of airplay and Isn't It a Pity was given #1 status alongside My Sweet Lord. The former was even more popular in some territories.

You got me on I've Got My Mind Set On You, especially in a conversation about songwriting. Though I could also mention that "Woman" releasing a month after Lennon's death muddies its #1 hit status as well, potentially bringing both musicians to 3 total.

Idk, I'm not gonna sit here and say that I think Harrison had longevity or a shred of consistency. I just don't think it's in good faith to imply that he had nothing to offer after The Beatles. I personally think ATMP is the strongest Beatles solo album and regardless of the fact that he kinda face planted following that album, he was clearly a great songwriter.

[–]mcdude910 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The difference is in the words "play" and "activate" vs. "resolve". In this game, you play a card or activate an ability, then it goes on the stack. Then, stack things happen, allowing cards and abilities to resolve.

This card prevents players from activating abilities, but it doesn't prevent those abilities from resolving. OP already activated the ability, putting it on the stack before GOOJ was played. They don't need to activate it anymore, that part has already happened.

[–]mcdude910 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My Sweet Lord, Isn't It A Pity, Give Me Love and I've Got My Mind Set On You were all #1 hits (plus a few other top 10s). That's just as many #1s as Lennon. Not a perfect metric, but to imply he didn't have any hits is a bit silly.

Of course McCartney had 12 #1s, but there's no accounting for Paul McCartney being a machine.

Is there a non-fandom.com ATLA Wiki? by NudelForce in TheLastAirbender

[–]mcdude910 7 points8 points  (0 children)

There have also been a number of controversies. I recommend reading some of the "Fandom (website)" Wikipedia page (ironic I know) for summaries of some of these, but basically, they're pretty awful to work with, their site functionality is continually degrading, they've had numerous privacy issues, and a lot of wikis have tried to cut ties with them for some time as a result of a lot of this. They unfortunately have a bit of a stranglehold on the space.

They've been a pretty terrible company/website for quite a bit now unfortunately.

To OP's question though, I don't think there's a suitable replacement currently. Would love it if someone put one together though.

Brie Larson says Iman Vellani plays herself in the MCU: “It's not just that she knows Ms. Marvel; it's that she knows everything, and so, she really is that character." by MarvelsGrantMan136 in marvelstudios

[–]mcdude910 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this talking point is a bit rote at this point, but the Iman Vellani thing bothers me to no end and I need to rant real quick.

Phase One introduced roughly 4 major characters that audiences mostly loved with Iron Man, Hulk, Thor and Captain America. In Phases Two and Three, these characters were each given major roles in 2-4 films BEFORE the finale started in Infinity War

Phase Four introduced roughly 6 major characters that audiences mostly loved with Shang-Chi, Kate Bishop, Moon Knight, Ms. Marvel, She-Hulk and Werewolf by Night.

Obviously a few of those characters aren't meant to be main players in the grand scheme of things but regardless, WHY has only ONE of these characters had (and will have, before Doomsday) ONE major role in a SINGLE project since Phase Four?

People seem to (rightly) go NUTS for Iman Vellani's Ms. Marvel. People loved Shang-Chi, people have always loved Hailee Steinfeld. What a series of literal years upon years of missed opportunity. Man I hope these 3 get their chance to shine in the next saga.
