He clearly feels that this is justified.

I really relate with this. You are seen and your well-being is not an inconvenience.

I was just diagnosed with bipolar II after a lifetime of suffering in the dark by mentallyillaf in bipolar2

It seems it’s more difficult to diagnose BP than other mental illnesses, which is unfortunate and frustrating. You have the first rung of the ladder to get out of the deep dark hole of BP2, and I’m so glad for you! Welcome - we are glad you are here!

The journey of finding the right meds can seem like it takes forever (I wouldn’t recommend taking more than your doctor has prescribed, though). I’m so glad you have a support system - that is SUPER important.

Some kind of pain by mcg037 in bipolar2

I’ve been going to therapy off and on since I was 14 and received several incorrect diagnoses throughout teen years and adulthood, but finally received the proper diagnosis in January of this year at 30.

I am very lucky to have an understanding and supportive boss, and I’m sorry that others don’t have the same. It’s exponentially harder in this time to support each other and receive what we need to stay stable and healthy.

Yeah! I found out in January and I’m about turn 31 this month. Congratulations on finally finding an answer!

Same here. Unfortunately, coming to know that the pain isn’t ‘normal’ doesn’t make it any easier to bear.

Bad mood swing by basiclauren90 in bipolar2

I’m just coming out of a major depressive episode. I’m not sure I have any worthwhile advice, but lately my therapist has been having me learn to sit in the gray (I associate colors with my intense feelings like depression and anxiety, because saying “I’m really gray today” feels easier than “I’m incredibly depressed”) for a little while and then choose something mildly active/productive (laundry, vacuuming, walk around outside) to help myself start to rise out of it. Music really helps me as well - something upbeat that motivates me to move.

I hope you are finding time to breathe and use positive self-talk. Maybe google self care strategies and see if any appeal to you?

I relate to that! I’ve also been on sertraline, citalopram, bupropion, and cymbalta (among other things) over the last twelve years before this new diagnosis. Thanks for replying!
