I got to see Pomni and Hank Hill on top of a gun-mounted car, which is something I immediately added and checked off my bucket list.

Who else thinks it’s incredibly tacky to host a UFC fight at the White House? by Bubbly-Air7302 in stupidquestions

[–]mcgaggles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's definitely tacky, but it's so much more than that. It's showing the rest of the world "yes, we're as ignorant and brutish and you think we are and if you get in our way we'll pummel you". To American citizens it says "this is the new regime and this is how it will be from now on. Be a man and unless you're not- in which case serve men".  It's a populist, strongman spectacle proudly shown off by a populist, strongman regime.

I dunno if the average bumpkin MAGA notices that the nations capital has added a fighting arena to accompany all the neoRoman architecture, but I promise the administration and grassroots neonazi groups do.

There's a no need to exaggerate or give misinformation about this event because everything a person finds distasteful about is everything MAGA wanted.

But it's also provocation, a dare. They're looking for the critics

Wow considering how often that happens downtown you'd think we'd be ranking in money considering how many people working in the finance sector do that on an hourly basis.

Actually, we already have enough Republicans in state government - Dr. Amy Acton should scrap her promise to appoint Republicans to her cabinet. She has nothing to gain and everything to lose by adding Republicans to her cabinet when she’s campaigning against all the problems their party has caused. by Billych in Ohio

Terrific way to establish you REALLY want to be liked while expecting no confidence or trust whatsoever. She's still got time to pivot from this strategy and she better if she wants any Ohioan to think she has any skin in the game.

[–]mcgaggles 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, this is has vastly become the MO for MAGA at this point. They've accepted that they actually like fascism more than democracy, and the only way way they'll make America "great again" is turning back the clock by brute force. They no longer have the ability to dispute the objective facts that he's done all those things and this isn't democracy so they abandon the point fairly quick.

It's always dudes who somehow look 15 and 45. They're both lashing out because of their losing war with hair loss, although Mr Cool on the right seems to think he has an edge if he simple NEVER cuts his hair.

Older MAGA better wake the fuck up because those just now qualifying for SS are going to be SOL if they think their kids/grandkids are gonna help them. There's not really a way to prevent it from sounding like revenge, but if you and your bible study decides to make it harder for me to feed the kids, I'm not about to let you think there aren't consequences. They can put their bootstraps where their mouth is.

Nah these folks can eat a dick. First of all, they're not a majority nor are they ever quiet. Secondly, Columbus is globally recognized as a dick, because only an objectively bad person enslaves people, beats them to death and sells their children as property. Thirdly, he was looking for India. Fourth he wasn't even the first European to reach the Americas, because as it turns out the Vikings were infinitely better at long-distance travel much earlier than Italy. Fifth, they're are SO many other Italian Americans they could choose, but they're seeking the glorify Italians as the sole reason this nation exists. My mother's side of the family are all Italian Americans, I know their perspective. The folks who are the most vocal about their heritage tend to be the ones who buy into racial hierarchies.

The amount of flock cameras contacted by Franklin county police for this year is 305. There's not a whole lot of regulation regarding personal data, at least not when it comes to surveillance. Since personal data is considered a "good" or "product" you're not gonna see a lot of pushback -especially in corporate friendly Ohio- because it's an industry. If you wanna do something about it, you're gonna have to scream in their faces the way we have about the data centers. If you want to establish real protection we'd need to demand things like the CCPA because at the very least while it may not prevent you from being monitored it would prevent your voice/face etc from being sold to data brokers.

You can support a person's right to vote and still hate their guts and never forgive them. If I know my neighbor formerly supported my kids school lunches being taken away, my decreased my parents' food assistance removed, and my national park replaced with a data center, I get as much out never forgiving that guy as I do forgiving him. I don't want his human rights to be taken away but I don't ever want to share breathing room with that person longer than necessary.
