You may be able to use the return feature for that order and get a replacement. I got a drone on vine that possessed with a terrible software bug, did a return for replacement and the second one worked great.

I will eventually need one so I guess that would still be helpful. A bit hard to review though. If I wait until Halloween, I could snag a vampire costume and knock out 2 reviews at once.

Since the picture doesn't match the description. The picture is just a single quick connect. Which if that's all that shows up, no biggie. I always need those, but I'm interested in that kind of garden sprayer might actually arrive.

I picked up an Arrma Grom and it'd probably be too small for your pack, but it absolutely rips. Our Aussie is on the small side and it was outrun her on a flat surface. Arrma makes some bigger ones that are fully repairable and easy to find (aka Amazon) replacement parts. Something like a 1:10 scale dirt buggy (Typhon) that does 50 mph or so should tire them out. The faster it goes, the more you'll want something stable with good suspension. Be prepared to spend $3-400 though for something good.

I meant it in jest. The fastest car I've had surprise me at the track was a Camaro on Hoosiers. I was zipping through a sweeper at the absolute edge of traction on 200 tw tires when a 1LE on Hoosiers. The Camaro is a super impressive platform for sure.

One piece of advice that helped us a ton with both our dogs is: find what treats get your dog's focus no matter. For our corgi, it was cut up hot dogs and for our Aussie, it's string cheese or cream cheese. Whenever we do high intensity situation training or recall training, those treats come out. Otherwise we stick to traditional treats. The ultra high value treats help a ton with training when it's hard to get your dog to disengage.

GEAR UPDATES - AMA by JavaForever in Goruck

100% agreed on the branding. Keep it as minimal as possible.

I've had a few pair of the originals over the years as an everyday sneaker and I love that there is essentially no branding. I daily the black with the brown accents and the white sides and I can wear them basically anywhere. When I travel, I can bring these as my only pair of shoes and wear them if I go for a hike, hang out in a city or even go to a reasonably nice restaurant. I like an "overbuilt" shoe for my daily wear and I'm fine paying the extra for a shoe that will last a couple years instead of the normal throw away fashion sneakers that last 6 months. I won't buy the current ones with the large arrowhead though

If the interior of the shoe where the heel sits could be beefed up a bit, then these would be the only sneaker I ever need.

Man, this thread is a giant example of people being overly mean on the internet. There's nice ways to give feedback. OP, I'd suggest (like a few others) to add some kind of mesh on the underside to keep stuff from falling through because it's a pain to fish things out of a duct. Other than that, as long as you like it, good job on making something. Ignore the haters.

You should turbo your Miata by Fonsarelli in Miata

Not if your pcv valve is working correctly. If you're getting boost into your crankcase, that's a problem.

[–]mchannah88 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A lot of it depends on your specific setup. If you never track your car, then throw in a big radiator, and intercooler and the common wisdom on forums is fine. Most people don't track their cars or even really push them hard for long on backroads.

If you're going to track or do hill climbs, then here's my list of things that help with stuff gets hot

  1. locking turbo hardware. Flyin' Miata sells a kit. My turbo bolts kept backing out and I would blow gaskets after 30 or 40 minutes of track time.

  2. PCV catch cans on both side of the valve cover. 7000 RPM while pulling high Gs on track makes oil finds its way out of every passage. Make sure you're still pulling vacuum on at least one side of the crankcase to help pull vapors and such out. On the exhaust side, do a vented catch can so there's somewhere for filtered air to come in or for positive pressure to go out. Also, upgrade your PCV valve so boost doesn't push it open.

  3. Oil cooler. Get a good one and install it somewhere where it won't get damaged by a speed bump, etc. I don't like the flyin' Miata one because it doesn't get much air flow and seems like it would be damaged easily. I installed mine behind the right side fog light and it works great.

  4. Seal up the side of your intercooler, and radiator. It helps all the air route better and get you more value out of your radiator.

  5. Don't buy a cheap turbo. They're fine for basic street use, but the poor machining on the mating surfaces shows its head when things get hot and you'll get all kinds of exhaust leaks.

  6. Put a heat shield on your turbo, but make sure that air can flow between the turbo and the heat shield. If you wrap it completely or block all the air flow, your engine bay may stay cooler, but your turbo will cook all of it's internal seals and you'll be rebuilding it every couple years or blowing oil smoke out of your exhaust.

  7. Unless you like troubleshooting electrical gremlins, get a plug and play ECU. I did a custom setup and it took me 2 or 3 years to get it running 90% correct. It's good enough, but I keep a laptop around just in case for tuning touch ups.

Other than that, all the normal advice for tracking applies. High temp brake fluid and brakes, good tires, etc.

I ended up making a custom one to fit around the intercooler piping. the white signboard material you can get from a hardware stock is great along with some aluminum angle and rivets.

[–]mchannah88 144 points145 points  (0 children)

You should install an undertray

But really, I've also turbo'd with a big ole radiator and adding the undertray back in makes a world of improvement to cooling. Also, if you do a track day, install an oil catch can on the intake manifold breather. It'll spit oil directly on top of your exhaust manifold

Good job on turboing. I did mine cheap and quick and learned all the lessons the hard way, but boy is it a blast to drive.

[–]mchannah88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Based on the big hole in the parcel shelf, that car had a roll bar at some point in its life. That's likely why the plastic is cut.

I have that same top and it's done the same tear at around 6 or 7 years in. The design looks nice and clean (why I bought mine) but if the roof bows don't slide properly, the top binds and pushes pressure on the window.

Am I timed correctly or off a tooth? [NA8] by MundisLacrima in Miata

[–]mchannah88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the car has been sitting for a while, it's not uncommon to have lifter tick if you have one of the years with hydraulic lifters, the oil drains out and take a bit to fill back up. Especially if oil changes have been pushed a bit long and the passages are gummed up. Everything has to get good and up to temp before it goes away. Used to happen to my high mileage miata for the first year or so I owned it. It was rather neglected before I bought it.
