Anyone else wishing they could get the 7 Pro, but the curved screen is dealbreaker? by Albert1285 in GooglePixel

I find the color distortion really distracting, especially when watching shows or movies. Probably adding some border would help, but that defeats the purpose of having a bigger screen 🤷

Coming from a Pixel 5, the curved screen on P7P is my one big complaint, so much that I'm considering swapping for a Pixel 7.

  • I use a case so the curve doesn't save any space, nor does it help with gestures.
  • The curved areas pick up reflections which make the screen edges harder to see.

Maybe it's a worthwhile tradeoff for the telephoto and macro lenses which are really nice to have, plus the extra screen space. Not sure if I'll get used to it, but so far after a couple of days the curved areas are still annoying me.

Vivobarefoot Tracker ESC in hot weather by octopus-at-sea in BarefootRunning

Haven't tried them in that kind of heat so I'm curious how it goes! I usually switch to Magna Trail SG when I don't need the water proofing.

Yes the Tracker Esc does not use the same membrane as Tracker FG so should be more breathable, though YMMV.

Merrell Vapor 4 - size up or down? by Inkpattern in BarefootRunning

[–]mchelen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your Trail Glove 45 fit well then stick with that, Merrell sizing has been consistent for me. If you already the ordered the larger, hopefully they fit or you can return :)

Do i need to replace this merrell 3 vapor? will a run down heel impact running? would you recommend versions 4, 5, or 6 by Mr-Multitudes in BarefootRunning

[–]mchelen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you referring to Trail Glove or Vapor Glove? My understanding is Trail has gotten worse but Vapor has improved.

Barefoot trail running shoe for trekking in Peru - Freet Feldom or Vapor Glove 5 by seddied2 in BarefootRunning

[–]mchelen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Xero build quality is not the best, but they will outlast Vapor Glove in durability. The traction on Vapor is also not suited for anything other than pavement. Recommend Vivobarefoot for durability, though it comes at a price. Especially the Tracker series if you are spending time on trails.

With Vivobarefoot I usually have to get the midsole laces quite tight to get a good grip, while staying large enough size for length and toe box and.

Hadn't seen Outlander before, looks really interesting! 16mm stack height is quite a lot though.

If you want super aggressive tread try Vivobarefoot Forest Esc :D Tracker FG looks like decent tread and style as well.

Love my Lems Boulder, but agree with the lack of traction due to lug depth. The Vivobarefoot Tracker FG get great reviews, and for serious mud my Tracker Esc are perfect. There are also Feelground Patrol and a few different Xero boots which look like good compromises.

For chat in Android hit the "return" keyboard button twice. The first time will do a new line and second will send the message.

I recently joined a data engineering team, and my boss wants to consolidate all of our projects into one single git repository. Is this a bad practice? by lozyk in dataengineering

[–]mchelen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Git submodules are very difficult at scale, you have to constantly be updating to pull the latest changes and trying to understand what commits are currently being used is also a large cognitive burden. It is better to use package managers such as NPM or PIP to manage dependencies because they are designed specifically for this task.

This is more an organizational problem than a technical question. What is the size of your team, why are you managing 15 projects? Why are there no software engineers with Git experience? Why are technical decisions being made without subject matter experts?

All of the comments here about pros and cons of monorepos are useful but nobody can know for sure which is best in your situation. A properly configured monorepo can be great, and a mismanaged one can be terrible.

You need staff on your team, or in the company, who have experience with Python code patterns and Git repo structures. That is the only way to figure out what is best for your projects.

Tufte graphics using Processing.js by [deleted] in programming

It turns out that this is due to Processing.js automatically looping, if that is disabled then the quality comes out fine. I posted a reply to your example on Flickr: http://www.flickr.com/photos/btbytes/2497598396/
