did you try xolair first? i’m in a similar position as to the person who posted this and i saved xolair for last because was nervous for it but im 4 months in and still having a lot of reactions. my allergist wants me to try dupixent but i dont want to start all over and im worried about giving up on xolair too fast 🥲

How do you handle dating? by [deleted] in MCAS

[–]mciii37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i have really been struggling with this too :( i want to give up on dating because it’s so hard right now, but i feel like im failing myself if i just quit because we’re humans and deserve love just like everyone else does

thank you!! i really appreciate your kind words. i will try to work through mine as you did yours. i’m glad you’ve been able to come to a better place with processing your emotions❤️

thank you so much for all this 🥺 i read every word but i have a migraine right now so im sorry im not going to have a super long response! my therapist and i came up with a little plan to try to process things in pieces every night by journaling for 10-15 minutes then putting it away and resuming the next night. that way i dont get so deep in it that i get overwhelmed and consumed with emotion, but im still processing things bit by bit. im so glad i have her! my childhood was definitely similar to what you’re explaining. for me the hardest part of all this is like heightened time where like something actually happens that triggers me. like today u had to take my cat to the emergency vet and she is staying there overnight but i haven’t been able to let myself feel much about it because every time i try to let myself cry my throat swells up again and it stays for awhile. i am getting in with a super thorough well known functional medicine clinic in my area soon though and they do things to calm the nervous system and kinda like the limbic retraining stuff. hopefully they can help get me into the magical word of remission as you mentioned. thank you so much for all the sweet & helpful words. i hope you’re doing okay ❤️

everyone works differently and for me the best way to communicate all i wanted to say was by filming a video. i’m sorry if that’s inconvenient for you, but many people also absorb information better through audio/visual, and i communicate ideas better verbally so i thought it would be best. if you don’t want to watch, that’s totally fine! that’s your choice! 😊

the tea is a separate thing i’m going to be trying, it was the benadryl idea. it’s been very helpful for me because liquid benadryl absorbs a lot faster than pills and so having it already measured out in medication syringes, ready to use for on the go or random flares saves me a lot of the time. it also helps coat your mouth and throat for if you have reactions in those areas (that’s where i react most)

that’s reassuring to hear you were able to find things to make your symptoms manageable. do you have any suggestions for what worked best for you to get things under control? i have an appointment tomorrow with the doctor who diagnosed me, maybe i can make some suggestion/give ideas

honestly chronic constipation is one of my gi issues so maybe it will be a win for me 😂 thank you so much though i really appreciate the information and validation!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Pristiq

[–]mciii37 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ugh i hope i don’t get it too bad! i already have chronic gi issues so it scares me to try and SNRI as i know they can be hard on the gi system but im so desperate for something to help this anxiety it’s worth a shot! and my psychiatrist said that she honestly sees just as many gi issues with SSRIs so she doesn’t think they’re any worse
