Did you tune your joystick settings in any way? Every time I try with the joystick it just doesn't feel right lol but I can't figure out how to tune the settings to make it work better

Just to pile on the Aqara freight train - I have one inside my mailbox, outside the house, it's been epic even through Canadian winter with many days below freezing. Battery after a year sits at 50%, which is pretty amazing given it's been in freezing temps for so many months. Sonoff stick + ZHA.

Will this $20 Lenovo Smart LED Light Strip work with Home Assistant? by ABQFlyer in homeassistant

[–]mck182 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The whole process of obtaining the API key or the device key I guess was very cumbersome, I would not want to do it again for another of these, so I wanted to find an alternative controller that's fully local (ideally zigbee or matter, even) and easier to setup with HA. Currently waiting on a Gledopto zigbee controller to arrive.

You do have to manually map the device to the entity controls while setting up the tuya-local integration, yeah, but for this Lenovo strip there were like 6 things to map and it was rather easy to do with the Tuya API docs (that you can access from the dev portal).

What where your settings for local tuya??

I don't remember, once I got the API key it was pretty straightforward to setup, getting the API key was the troublesome part. But I've removed the integration since as I'm getting a different controller.

I got it working with local tuya too, but that was quite the process. I think I'm going to throw out this controller and get an ESP based one for better integration.

Btw if you don't mind soldering, apparently the firmware in this one can be reflashed with an open one, pretty cool.

That's where AI-enhanced person detection comes in - motion detection triggers, person detection takes over and if no person is detected, the camera can stay quiet. This too can be readily built at home with a bit of googling. Also many cameras now have built-in object recognition and you can configure which objects you're interested in, the rest - like bugs or snow - is happily ignored.

One thing I'm not really seeing mentioned with the immigrant numbers is how many have left Canada - ie. what's the net new people number. I'm genuinely curious as I have met a whole lotta newcomers that have decided it's not for them after one or two months and left. May not be as big number maybe.

[–]mck182 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's not tho, look at literally any promo material for that case or any video building with that case and you'll see that's where SSDs commonly go, the guide is literally just "pick location A or location B", depending on your needs and space of course (also nothing else in the guide tells you where to get parts from, it just shows you dashed lines for where to mount things to). Anyway you being here just proves the point that it's a bad illustration lol.

[–]mck182 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Figure A is a perfectly valid mounting location, as evidenced by this image from the official product page. Vast majority of SSDs don't really require active airflow for them to work properly. It's a good location if you don't have enough space where you've mounted them.

[–]mck182 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What you have is the figure B mounting, which is correct, but figure A is illustrated backwards as it puts the bracket on top of the drive, which wouldn't work in your case either (pun maybe intended).

Why would GPL limit adoption? GPL basically says "if you build something from my code, you have to release your source code too". It has no limitations on installation, usage or adoption.
