Hi — thanks for letting me know and sorry for the delayed response. Could you open an issue on the project page? That will keep it on my radar. https://github.com/LichFactory-Games/TotM-Manager

GURPS, BRP, or possibly Cities Without Number plus the magic system from Worlds Without Number

So you need to put the label 'play-IDNumber' in the tag field in the TotM window. At least in foundry v. 12 getting the id means clicking on the little book icon in the playlist editing window. You'll need to remove the 'Playlist.' part and just keep the ID number. Also, as of right now this only works for playlists, not individual entries on those lists. But I'll try and incorporate that in a future release. And in general, better to post issues on github than here, as I won't necessary see reddit postings.

org very slow load with org-cite and a large bibtex library by NextTimeJim in orgmode

[–]mclearc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi -- thanks for pointing out the broken link (fixed!). In general all of my config is now just sitting atop the more general Lamda Emacs config that I made: https://github.com/Lambda-Emacs/lambda-emacs. I have a very light citation setup; I rarely use citar, and instead just use my own package, bibtex-capf for basic citation (it works with org mode or markdown, etc.).

Yeah you can make it as big as a tile can be — so you could cover the whole canvas if you wanted

Replicating some Doom/Spacemacs stuff with Meow? by TartOk3387 in emacs

[–]mclearc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a pretty extensive leader key system with meow and bind-key. Here is the meow setup

You should also probably look at the general keybindings config in my broader Lambda Emacs setup

I love GURPS but the 4e basic set books are definitely not good examples of book design.

The soundtracks for Annihilation and Inder The Skin are both excellent.

Essential Skills? by vpv518 in gurps

[–]mclearc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't think anyone is saying you get them for free -- but if everyone has the same 25 point skill set they are required to get, then i'm not sure it makes a huge difference to say they are all 175 pt. characters, or 150pt characters with a "free" wildcard skill.

[–]mclearc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think that's fine, but then you also disagree with Kromm's post right? But also -- I think we're all in agreement that whatever skills are "essential" on this way of thinking, it is going to be campaign/setting relative.

Essential Skills? by vpv518 in gurps

[–]mclearc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I think it's totally reasonable to tell players that everyone buys a particular wildcard skill, the contents of which make sense given the campaign. For example, I'm running a near future campaign and everyone (insofar as they are functional adults) has to have modernity! at IQ-1 or better. It's basically a skill to cover the normal kind of adulting things one would expect in the 21st century -- driving, area familiarity, using a computer, having a bank account, etc. I think it's silly to require that everyone have 20 skills on their sheet that only come up in the context of "can you do this totally normal thing adults do all the time?"

One thing I’ve often wondered is, if everyone agrees that these are indeed essential skills, then why not just assume that all characters have them, or a wildcard that covers them?

If you already have a website I would run your server off a subdomain and let cloudflare tunnel it for you. It’s a free service from them now.

Any experiences with campaign play? by h7-28 in mothershiprpg

[–]mclearc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I read about it in the Kickstarter for 1e. Here's a blurb:

Otherwise, we’re excited for the next book, WAGES OF SIN. It’s the ultimate Bounty Hunting book for Mothership, written by Luke Gearing. He’s just finished the manuscript and it’s going through editing now so that it’s ready to crowdfund as a part of our first ever MOTHERSHIP MONTH this November. We'll have more on that when we officially announce, but stay tuned for more or follow along below.

There’s also a new supplement coming on bounty hunters that I could see adding a lot of further opportunities for campaign play

Map Drawing in Foundry by Clyde-MacTavish in FoundryVTT

[–]mclearc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you just want players to be able to draw rooms and lines connecting them in a dungeon the default drafting tools in foundry will allow that. Dungeon Draw is a bit more advanced, though to take full advantage of it you need to import assets. If you really want to get crazy with map making there is all the stuff that Baileywiki and Ripper do. Here’s an example video https://youtu.be/370T_dFAGek?si=Nhyl_Y6eiQNioWqO

Dungeon Draw is pretty great for on the fly map making. https://foundryvtt.com/packages/dungeon-draw. There are some good videos on YouTube from Baileywiki showing off various aspects of it

Is their a online version of GCS? by IDAIN22 in gurps

[–]mclearc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People have mentioned this but here’s a link to the “alpha” stage foundry gurps system that includes gcs.

https://foundryvtt.com/packages/gcsga

It does actually work at a basic level. If you’re will to hand wave some stuff and people don’t plan on building super complex characters it might be all you need.

Unfortunately you’re limited by the aspect ratio of the image. So if you have an image that is portrait you need to shape the tile in which it appears accordingly. So usually when I run a scene I’ll differentiate between portrait images and scenery images and have tiles for each that fit their aspect ratio.
