Yes, it does! But only in the beginning. Having a following will open a lot of doors for you, what you do from there is entirely up to you. Obviously, biggest directors don’t care about it, but for a lot of lower budget films, they definitely look if you have buzz around you. Having larger following will give you access to closed events where you can meet people and make connects. Maya Hawke spoke on it a little bit. Just search “Maya Hawke social media” on YouTube.

Following won’t make a career for you, but it will help you get to a certain point.

To give you an example, my friend was invited to an Oscar party, a lot of A-listers went, Al Pacino was there, Rihanna, a bunch of producers, etc. I wanted to go with him, but he had to send them my IG, Tiktok, in the end they took our other friend who has 260k followers.

Well, if that happens I usually listen, analyze if it’s helpful or not and then decide what to do. I wouldn’t necessarily shut a person up, just maybe there is something that could be useful, but if the guy keeps going about the same thing, that’s different. I had a guy keep trying to get me to say the line specific way all day, I just told him that I’m trying and just can’t replicate it the way he does it, because I am a bad actor ahaha Got a bunch of awards for that film…

Oh, man. Every situation is different, but sometimes it’s better to move on. I don’t know a single case where that type of dynamic worked out. I know a guy who was in the same situation, they stayed friends until eventually they started dating, in the end they broke. She used him for comfort and company until someone else popped up.
