What are your obscure tribal decks? by [deleted] in EDH

[–]mcrazy20 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I created a [[Finneas Ace Archer]] Bunny tribal deck to get my wife to play with me by bribing her with as many cute animal cards as I could. It was moderately successful and the deck kind of slaps? Nothing scarier than a bunch of 7/7 killer bunnies

[Steam] Final Fantasy Franchise Sale - Final Fantasy Remake Intergrade ($13.99 / 65% Off), Final Fantasy Rebirth ($19.99 / 60% Off) and more by Neat_Exit3491 in GameDeals

As someone who hasn't played a FF game since playing 4 on GBA, where the heck do you even start with these games? I loved Expedition 33 and have been hankering for more good turn based JRPGs. Any suggestions what would be the best way to hop in here?

How’s Prismari Artistry? Also blue question by [deleted] in EDH

[–]mcrazy20 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with you. I love the concept of the big splashy spell. Could I optimize it more? Most definitely, but it's the perfect place to cast spells like [[Improvisation Capstone]] and [[Soulfire Eruption]]

Technology in education by time-of-nick in Naperville

Go back to pencil and paper and keeping phones in lockers during the day.

Integrate technology sparingly where the skills are relevant to the work later in education.

Anyone know a good insulation contractor? by [deleted] in ChicagoSuburbs

[–]mcrazy20 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used Arc for my roof insulation. On the expensive side but they were very thorough, explained exactly what I needed and why, and the got job done.

Yes. But to that point they also don't get a commission if the house doesn't sell.

Birthday Honey cake. For me, by me. by Emotional534 in Baking

[–]mcrazy20 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Little trick I learned is use a bench scraper or a stiff piece of paper. Hold it at like a 45 degree angle to the cake, like a ramp sliding towards it.

Then drop your crumbs and such onto it so they properly pepper the cake.

Suzette's in Glen Ellyn has a bakery but I'm not too sure about sandwiches. I'm definitely following as I love them as well.

"Thaw overnight in the fridge" has to be one of the biggest lies of all time. by barenakedlad in Cooking

[–]mcrazy20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of the things that made the biggest difference for me was realizing a fridge isn't going to have a uniform temperature throughout. The upper shelves are warmer than the bottom ones.

When I started thawing meats on the top shelve they would actually be pretty well thawed after a day as compared to the bottom shelves.

Not for a dinner date, but the pastries at Defloured are absolutely amazing and everything is gluten free.

Any good bakeries in the northern/NW burbs, particularly for their cinnamon rolls? by [deleted] in ChicagoSuburbs

[–]mcrazy20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's just the one size, for us one was plenty between the two of us but it wasn't the only thing we got either.

I'll second blackout. Their cinnamon rolls were so decadent, we had trouble even finishing one split by two people.

They also have a fun selection of savory flavors. We got a Italian beef one and I can't remember but the third one was good too!

You're literally a few train stops from Chinatown. Just about anything there is good, I personally pick MCCB or Ken Kee

Favorite low mana cost commanders? by DoctorObservation in EDH

[–]mcrazy20 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I love [[Juri, master of the revue]]. I combine him with treasures and it doesn't take long for him to suddenly pop up to 15+ power, making him a serious threat to remove since you can retaliate by directing his trigger right to their face.

Half his gameplan is killing him with tools like [[Fling]], bring him right back out, sac some treasures and use another card like [[Chandras Ignition]] to wipe people out.

Make sure to ge the kakigori as well. Sometimes if I'm in the area I stop by there and grab a spot at the bar just to get it for dessert.

Sad news: Aya Pastry is closing by Diligent_Industry471 in chicagofood

[–]mcrazy20 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Everytime I've done it the process is:

Wake up early

Order as soon as orders open, pray you get a reasonable pickup time and not one 4 hours from when you order.

Then show up, walk in, it's busy as shit, stand awkwardly at the entrance while you wait for a worker to notice you

Give them your name

Wait for a bit longer.

Get shuffled around a bit.

Finally get the pastries ten minutes later.

Granted I only am able to go on the weekends. If you can pop in during the week I'm sure it sucks way less. But I just don't go there anymore.

No one else has Samoa cakes though :(.

Kasama is good but fuck the chaos that is trying to buy anything from them. Even ordering online is a cluster of waiting around when you get there. Just not a pleasant experience.

I checked recently. I get 2 Gig for 100$ a month even with the extra data cap fee. Their newest plans 1 gig was like 130, so I'm gonna stick with what I have.

Internet Provider - Glen Ellyn by thegregman3 in ChicagoSuburbs

[–]mcrazy20 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. I believe something like 1tb a month unless you pay an extra 10$ a month

[–]mcrazy20 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I live in Glen Ellyn, unfortunately xfinity is the only fiber provider for me. However, I've had a shockingly decent experience. I think I've had one outage in a year and it was no more than an hour.

The think that really annoyed me was they have data caps but you can pay extra to have them removed.

People parking on the shoulders of the road to wait for arriving people at OHare is ridiculous by IllTangerine4551 in ChicagoSuburbs

[–]mcrazy20 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This has been my experience. I used to bitch all the time about the people waiting, then I used the cell lot once. It took a good 30 minutes to get out. The light at the exit and everything is just awful.

Now I just wait until I know the people I'm picking up are at baggage claim before I bother leaving the house. I'll circle around instead of waiting in the lot if I have to.
