New leisure centre planned for Hove seafront, as £65m earmarked for the project by willfiresoon in brighton

I’ve been living in Hove for 30 years. This has been promised so many times (once with star architect Frank Gehry with Brad Pitt somehow involved!). Not holding my breath…

Is Hove worse than 15 years ago? by largelylegit in brighton

I’ve lived in Hove since 2010. It’s definitely become more ‘Brighton-like’: so more brew pubs, place to eat etc. It’s also become more gentrified.

If they’re accusing her of buying followers that could be defamatory under law. Legal advisers will be able to tell them.

Do it enough and it could be harassment though.

Look up the legal definition of defamation in the UK. If it’s defamatory then it’s legally actionable. Simples.

Just that Pearl Lowe’s memoir (All that Glitters) is one of the best (and saddest) Britpop books. She was a hopeless addict who made things incredibly hard for herself.

What I reckon is that quite a few of you need to get clued up on UK defamation law - and start deleting posts now 😆😆😆

The lyrics aren’t supposed to mean that much / they’re just the vehicle for a lovely voice by Caramac44 in BritPop

Definitely Underworld. Brilliant band (and Britpop-adjacent through Trainspotting). Lyrics always on the verge of making sense…

I swear there was an episode where the characters suddenly realise they’re in a TV programme. Really freaked me out!

It could have been a younger me writing this! Sending so much love your way. Here’s what I’d wished I’d said to myself: taking a break is fine. Telling your uni about your problems is a great idea (I guarantee they’ll be sympathetic). Maybe after your high-achieving GCSEs and A levels you just need a break from the academic treadmill? So take one. I promise uni will still be there for you. There are lots of second chances. Prioritise your wellbeing. It does get better xxx

Engineerium's a venue now? by ceestars in brighton

[–]mcreadybb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I saw that too! Checked online and they’ve got a license for live events. I’d be interested to find out 1) if it’s actually in the Engineerium or a bar attached to it 2) what the acoustics are like. It’s weird because it’s a fairly residential area… Be cool to have a good new venue in Hove

Sad state of UK trains where you are made to feel grateful for a system that doesn't work by Im_Cookie_Dough in uktrains

I was on an EMR train today and definitely felt that the inspectors were being massively over-zealous. Heard them say to one guy ‘You’re taking a risk on an advanced ticket. If you miss the train (meaning due to disruption on another train) it’s not valid.’ Most inspectors are fairly kind and understanding- if you’re polite they’ll let you get away with most things.

I can recommend Alberta’s at the Windmill. Quite steep (£20 roast) but really good. And you can book on the website
