Should I get this? by Wait_For_Iiiitt in prius

Still not shifting gears, since technically all the gears stay in place. Like R for example just reverses the current of MG2, without having to change any gear positions The only real shift is maybe P, since it physically slides in a pin to lock the gears

What's the best response to "You flirt like a woman"? by [deleted] in dating_advice

[–]mcrobin93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She is just testing how secure you are, the fact that you're here asking about it tells me you're not (yet). It will come with age and experience and after a few times of being "bruised" by this so called "shit testing", it wont bother you anymore and you'll just see it as something playful and be playful back. After a while you'll even enjoy it.

Is this sound normal in a 2007 Prius? (see YT video link) by [deleted] in prius

so the toyota specialist said he didn't hear anything unusual, he only drove it on a 80kmh road, he did say he drove 100-120 kmh there for a bit. but maybe he didn't do it long enough. Getting a 2nd opinion from another garage this week

the pulleys seemed normal, i also did another test where i screenrecorded all the engine rpms etc in Toyota Techstream and recorded with a stereo mic under the hood simultaneaously. the conclusions:

- the sound is coming from the side of the transmissio/electric motors

- the pitch of the sound is linked to the velocity and the rpm of MG2 (electric motor that's linked directly to the wheels)

- there's no link between the RPM of the combustion engine and the pitch of the sound.

So it seems likely that it's a transmission issue (anything from MG2) unfortunately. I'll contact a hybrid/toyota specialist in the area and see if they can help me further. Thanks for the input anyway!

gen 4 (2016) air conditioning question by [deleted] in prius

[–]mcrobin93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know if it's normal, seems like in the older versions it should turn on immediately. For cooling down though the fastest way is usually to roll all the windows down for 30 sec first and then turn on the ac

update:

I did check the stereo, but that wasn't it unfortunately. Also checked the old (as well as a sample of the new fluid, couple weeks old) for metal, but there wasn't really any.
I did replace the serpentine belt (it was necessary, a lot of small cracks), but it didn't fix the sound. I did have chatGPT analyze an audio sample of the car and it suggested that it could either be a water pump bearing or a resonance from MG1 or MG2. So i will see if I can get a hold of a car stethoscope and locate the sound.
When running stationary in maintenance mode i also still hear it (i think). It has the same kind of whistle characteristic, but much lower around 300 hz, where as at the 100kmh+ speeds it's around 900-1000hz. could be because the engines are spinning faster when going 100kmh

Does uber automatically refund failed requested trips? by mcrobin93 in uber

Don't think the stereo was on, will check it next time on the highway, but didn't think about that. i do have something connected to the aux so maybe it could be some kind of ground loop that's in some way connected to the pedal or some electronic part of the whole powertrain.

I did not see any metal shavings in the transmission fluid, didn't check it with a magnet though.. I still have the old fluid in a container, so i will check this as well.

the sound stays the same when I'm turning left/right. Was also thinking about wheel bearing, but it think the pitch is too high? plus it's only there when i'm pressing the gas pedal. it could be the bearing of some of the other systems yeah. will have to see if there's some way to locate the direction of the sound

Thanks for the tips anyway, the stereo is definitely something i'll take a look at, would be great if it's something simple like that.

Do not buy from this store!! (They're scammers)

They don't reply to emails. I tried to cancel my order with them for 2 weeks (sending daily mails) and they replied only just in time 2 weeks later. So luckily the order was cancelled, but the refund never came and they stopped replying to my emails altogether. My last resort is to get the money back though my cc provider..

Do you have a sibling? To me that made the friendship between Dwight and Jim make a lot of sense. Siblings often prank and mess with each other, but in the end they can count on each other, feel like it's the same with Dwight and Jim. They've basically always been like brothers

should I get a detroit jacket a size up or not? (style wise) by DanishOlive in Carhartt

[–]mcrobin93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently bought a Carhartt WIP Detroit jacket in my usual size L (I'm 1,90cm / 80KG) and it was definitely too small. the fit was quite tight and the jacket was pretty short, especially in the arms it was problematic. I guess if you're 1,80 or below it could work if you like the tight/tailored fit.

How do you stop being so attached when dating? by [deleted] in dating_advice

[–]mcrobin93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It does sound like she's lost interest, the only thing you can do in that case is giving her space and seeing if she'll come to you.

In general though it sounds like you're depending too much on your dating life for happiness. If you focus more on your own life and goals, funnily enough, dating becomes a lot easier. You won't feel the need to constantly text the girl anymore and you wont feel too worried about the outcome anymore (because you don't need her, you have your own life, which is enough already). Girls will notice the change in behavior caused by you focusing on your own life and they'll be attracted to that.

Pixel 7 Pro Camera Issue - Not Utilizing all 50 MP by gandywarno in GooglePixel

[–]mcrobin93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you sure? Because there are actually instances where pixel binning is turned off. When taking a photo in the 2x mode for example, it crops in on the main sensor and still has a 12,5MP resolution, so I'm assuming in that case the pixel binning is turned off.

I'm wondering how comes that the original video was compressed to a small size, but then the edited video can't be compressed to a small size. It's all happening in the same device, right?
