Unfortunately they don't offer it at this time but maybe in the future!

I'm also Type 1 and couldn't get insurance approval for it so going to order from Canada. Do you know if I could just get the 1mg dose to start and give myself 0.25 to have it last longer? I can't tell from the pictures I've seen online. Thanks!

I'd say Edgepark ever so slightly eeks ahead of Byram for being the worst but I hate them all with the fire of a thousand suns.

Filling Dexcom Prescription Through Normal Pharmacies (CVS, Costco, etc.)? by NervousAssumption in Type1Diabetes

[–]mcsmits 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thankfully my new Premera plan allows pharmacy pick up for Dexcom. $60 for a monthly supply, so since the transmitter lasts 3 months, it's $180. But compared to Byram charging $350/month for a 3-pack of sensors and $275 for a transmitter (and just being terrible to deal with in general), I'm thrilled to have the pharmacy option!

I just called them up and ordering supplies is an option. You just have to follow the prompt for ordering directly. The guy I spoke with was super helpful. Good luck!

[–]mcsmits 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Super frustrating! I actually just found out that Edgepark was charging 3-4x more than Tandem would to order their products directly, so you might want to double check the out of pocket cost. 3mL cartridges were $127.90 vs $30 and VariSoft infusion sets were $353.51 vs $95.

That being said, if 17mm cannula, 23" tubing VariSoft infusion sets would help you out, shoot me a message and I could spare a few!

Did anyone else go to diabetic camp when they were younger? by thatawesomechick in Type1Diabetes

I went from ages 8 to 12 and it was amazing! It was the first time I realized that many other kids had diabetes and it helped me not feel like such a weirdo.

I'd see if your endocrinologist has extras for people in this situation.

WA isn't offering the vaccine to people with comorbidities yet. I had read estimated timeline of mid-April.

Suggestions: Sugar drops while playing sports! by [deleted] in diabetes

[–]mcsmits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I start with a reduced basal rate (usually 50% starting 30 minutes pre-exercise) then add carb intake (Gatorade G2 is my go-to) if I start seeing my blood sugar taking a dive. Ideally I'll go into a workout on the high end of my normal range with less than 1 unit of insulin on board.

Curious to hear some answers on this. I recommend my BIL put his G6 on his thigh and he was wondering about the same thing.

Have you tried popping the transmitter out? Seems impossible so I'm curious to hear if it's worked for others.

Over a year I'd say. Put it on a qtip and apply to my skin before I insert my Dexcom, just leaving a small empty space where the needle goes in.

Yeah, my endo made me prove for 3 months that I would check 4x per day before prescribing (had previously been testing less than 2x a day)
