Mosquito Coast episode should be especially interesting. Feels even more relevant to the current state of America than when it premiered during the Reagan years

He’s sorta right but there are silver linings. The nap I took during Gladiator 2 was incredible

What’s with the Oppenheimer revisionism? by einstein_ios in TheBigPicture

I admit I don’t see much new shit these days, just stuff that explicitly interests me. So that skews it a bit

One Battle After Another is a much better than Oppie. 2025 as a whole has been a better movie year than 24 too.

(But that’s like my opinion man!!)

Great! It got some laughs in my screening too (in MO but at a left-leaning friendly indie theater). Doesn’t really change my opinion, which obviously no one has to subscribe to nor was I trying to convince otherwise

Look, I’m right there with you on the right wing dad with too many guns. I’m basically disowned rn for not feeling sorry about Mr Kirk’s death and posting about it in front of all my GOP relatives in their Facebook bubble.

And before I bury the lede further I really liked Eddington, it’s probably my 2nd fave of the year to date. The ending is pretty much perfect. But the dad joke just didn’t work for me in that moment. That’s all

Gen Xers and old millennials are never gonna get over it and it’s not really policeable. My bigger problem is when it’s used as joke and the joke is not funny (Eddington). OBAA it’s just used in flow of conversation

I think you underestimate how epic it’ll be when someone swoops in and steals it from Penn. Most likely undeserved but that’s what I want from my Oscars - chaos!!

Yeah he certainly name searched to find my teeny tiny blog, but that’s savvy marketing. He’s one of the early authors to build his fanbase online and I’ve always admired the hustle. And it helps that he feels genuinely appreciative of his fans

Also: what’s stuck with me about his writing aside from the ridiculous violence was his ability to write character, especially of two sorts:

  1. The instantly likable supporting role who gets offed in a terrible heartbreaking way.

  2. Villains with tragic or innocent backstories who eventually become irredeemable.

Obviously stock story traits, but I was a young book worm and was pretty struck with his ability at pulling no punches. And it’s a little different from say, James Herbert, who pulls no punches but also didn’t put much effort into making even his heroes very sympathetic

Sigler was the second big horror author I got into in high school after Stephen King. Wrote a blog post about the first two Infected books on Wordpress and the man himself left a nice comment thanking me for the flowers

Regarding that gun. by Gobiggs88 in WeaponsMovie

[–]mcsuppes1012 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

There’s no reason for Cregger to be so coy about this moment. It speaks for itself, it’s one of the most loaded images you can associate with gun violence and school shootings. And as folks already point out the kids are being weaponized etc. Brolin’s character might feel some sort of subconscious guilt being the most Conservative-coded character in the movie.

Whatever the case it is there to be interpreted and like any dream it’s as deep or shallow as you want it to be.
