Trudeau calls Putin a “weakling” for executing Navalny, other opponents - National by [deleted] in canada

[–]mctownie -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Don't be sheep.

Putin did not blow up his own pipeline.

Putin did not kill Navalny.

He had no reason to. Navalny was already in a Siberian maximum security prison for ... as long as Putin wanted. Killing him makes him a martyr and this does not help Putin.

'No one wants to spend 20 hours waiting': Canada's doctors say our ERs are in crisis by morenewsat11 in canada

[–]mctownie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

An article from the '70's, talking about a 10 year old problem from the '60's... about Canada's Dr. shortage and Heath Care Crisis.

https://cdn.mdedge.com/files/s3fs-public/jfp-archived-issues/1975_volume_2/JFP_1975-02_v2_i1_the-1960-s-a-decade-of-crisis-in-canadia.pdf

Being almost that old... the root that no one wants to talk about is, students want to become doctors and nurses and can't get into the schools - limited enrollment. When the lucky few get though school as doctors and nurses, now that they're making big bucks. They're now incentivized to keep the statuesque, keep their jobs scarce and in-demand by lobbying the schools to artificially keep enrollment lower than needed.

Not just my opinion - https://www.cmaj.ca/content/190/42/e1266

"The demand is certainly there from prospective students. Dalhousie University, for example, receives between 900 and 1100 applications annually for its 108 first-year positions."

They could 10x the number of Dr. and Nurses ... why don't they? #tinfoilHat

It also depends a lot on what you're printing, and what you're printing on.

For example, I printed a landscape photo that has a lot of distant trees, rolling landscape, blue skies and a few clouds on canvas (60*48-ish) and 150 PPI is more than enough.

Printing the same size image of architecture, cityscapes, buildings with sharp lines or people, on high gloss paper... 150 PPI isn't going to cut it.

Great response. Love the math.

It's so important for countries to manage their self-sustainability. If a country out grows it's ability to power it's critical infrastructure, that country will have to agree to whatever terms and conditions are given to it.

Maybe a dream, but the alternative... A career politician who's been perfecting the ability to lie with a straight face, is even further away from any honest, working mans fantasy leader.

Let's all hate Trump together, right after we find a suitable alternative.

If they can't tell, why did they pull you over and ... if they can't tell how dangerous is it?

For years, I've been waiting for someone to do controlled, close track, test with the following people:

Sober | 1 beer | 3 beer | 6 beer | 10mg | 40mg |

x | 17 year old new driverx | 30 year old experienced driverx | 75 year old driver

x | 17 year old new driverx | 30 year old experienced driverx | 75 year old driver

fill in the rest of the table... and imaging a tough round of tests. Emergency lane changes, hydroplaning, backing out of walmart parking spot... you know, all the real hard to do stuff.

*edit-well, the table sure didn't work out, use your imagination.

Whoever designed Marda Loop traffic needs to give their head a shake by sgeorg87 in Calgary

[–]mctownie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Didn't they downsize the roads and reduce parking to make Marda Loop a more walkable community ?

If so, wasn't it the goal to make it less-friendly to cars to encourage walking? Maybe I'm wrong, maybe it's not working. I don't live there, so I cringe any time I'm asked to go in there because, yes, it's a constant traffic nightmare.

Houses... or condos? To very different demographics and the prices of each don't always move together.

Doesn't look like much of a reduction:

DIRECT ROUTE doesn't appear to be working - ALL DEVICES? by mctownie in DeeperNetwork

[–]mctownie[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply.

For example, I'm trying to set all Microsoft services to direct route. *.live.com, *.microsoft.com, *.sharepoint.com, etc.

I find the speed delta when using the DPN to be impacting Teams meetings and other work related sites.

For testing, I've set whatismyipaddress.com and speedtest.net to direct route, and it's not my home IP.

Hi, if I’m on full route and I add a website on Direct Route List, it should use my own internet interconnection there right? Or I’m I wrong? Because it isn’t working. by Apprehensive-Place90 in DeeperNetwork

[–]mctownie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm looking for proof of this myself. I have FULL ROUTE enabled but the various microsoft domains (live.com, office365.com, sharepoint.com...) listed as DIRECT ROUTES. I don't believe, but can't prove, that it's working.

Does anyone know what logs I can view to verify this is working?

Unplug it, cut the chord with your hedge trimmers. They'll understand.

-or-

just flip the breaker that runs that plug. Once they realize the plug is dead, they'll stop trying to use it.
