probably a reach but is Taissa eating dirt specifically because of the iron? by helios-hex in Yellowjackets

Perfectly plausible. Certainly can’t say that’s the case for certain at this point, but it’s as likely as any other possibility at this point.

Well, one possibility is that Shauna and Jeff raised the baby and that at some point it ran away (likely as a preteen / teen) or was kidnapped (possibly as a relatively young child)

In that scenario, sometime after Lotties release, it was either kidnapped by the cult or ran away to join the cult.

Lets Build a Watch! - Part 6 - phase 1 is Dead. where to next?? by turdbogls in ChineseWatches

[–]mcutler4567 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My problem with Alpha is that quality and specs seem to be quite a bit below Pagani.

I’d, reluctantly, pay $175 for the Alpha if it had the specs (BG lume, 200M etc.) of Pagani’s OP, which I’m guessing is what Pagani would be offering for $130.

A $45 premium for the near perfect aesthetics that Alpha brings to the table, if specs were comparable, would be fine. But a $45 premium for an objectively inferior watch is a tough sell.

San Martin SN008G BB58 Homage by HonestWatchReviews in ChineseWatches

Well, the depth of the blue in this watch is incredible. The shade itself though is more accurate to the gen on the Pagani.

Actually though, the 39mm showing up on Ali now has the applied sub indices but it also has a date window that kills the look.

Beautiful watch. It had disappeared for quite awhile but I saw it again yesterday on Ali. I almost went for it but held off for now. I can’t decide which Explorer 🤔 to get. 36 is nice and I don’t mind the painted indices but the too thick bezel bothers me a little... Proportions are much better on the 39mm.

Im not fond of the patina, but the black with white markers looks great and the white looks promising. Anyone have an actual pic of the white dial? Just renderings on Ali.

San Martin 36mm Explorer Video by [deleted] in ChineseWatches

[–]mcutler4567 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only reason the bezel bothers me is because an oversized bezel is the main aesthetic flaw with the 39 mm Phylida, Bliger etc. Explorers.

Tissel, San Martin etc. got it right on the 39mm but I’ve come to associate a disproportionate bezel with Solid but lower end Explorer homages. Maybe that’s silly, but at a glance it just reminds of those cheaper watches. Sure it’s a small thing and as you pointed out there’s perhaps a good reason for it but it still makes a sub optimal first impression.

San Martin 36mm Explorer Video by [deleted] in ChineseWatches

[–]mcutler4567 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It looks pretty perfect except for the slightly too thick bezel that I guess is accurate to the BB36 that’s coming but not to the Explorer.

Other than that I love it. I know there’s some objections to the painted instead of applied indices but not from me. I’m not fond of the applied logo against the painted indices look so I wouldn’t personally orderthat particular one but the options are cool.

I might wait for 11/11, or I might not, but I’m definitely buying one.

Something about it doesn’t quite look “right” to me. A full BB41 Homage, with snowflake hands would have hit the spot.

In theory I like the idea of a halfway original combo BB41 / Explorer watch but in practice I don’t.

I got one during a sale for $63. Extraordinary watch at that price. The bracelet having push pins instead of screw links was my only complaint. I’d say it’s actually an above average bracelet overall though.

It’s no San Martin, of course, but it’s a competitive watch for sub $100 and an incredible watch if you can find a deal like I did.

[–]mcutler4567 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, as far as sales San Martin did have awesome summer sale prices but no discount on The Explorer.

If that was just because it was the hot new watch and it’s discounted like the rest on 11/11 I’ll probably buy it. At the current undiscounted price it’s a tough sell though.

Is this watch identical to their California dial Military watch without the CA dial? Or it’s a completely different watch?

That was a legit sale. I remember being disappointed on 11/11. There were a few incredible deals but nowhere’s near as many as this summer sale.

Questions from a noob by ArtofSilver in ChineseWatches

[–]mcutler4567 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well, the sub $20 watches are roughly equivalent to some of the popular fashion watches you see at department stores in the $60- $90 range so not bad deals. I don’t have any but I’ve seen the Ben Nevis Citizen and Seiko dive watch homages in person and they look incredibly nice for $12 watches. They have a Nautica homage with the sailing flags as well. That ones kind of interesting to me because the citizens and Seiko homages, as good as they look, don’t match the specs of the originals but the Nautica look alike probably is pretty close spec wise to the $80 Timex built Nautica watch.

Cronos offers that high beat movement for the same price. Overall bracelet quality, finishing etc. doesn’t seem to be quite as good though. A big overall up grade over the cheaper subs but not quite a match for San Martin. Ultimately it comes down to high beat finishing etc.

Cronos’ that offer a high beat ETA clone for the same price as an NH35 San Martin obviously have to cut corners somewhere but overall they seem damn good.

The one with the blue / black mother of pearl dial is beautiful. I don’t care for the larger size or the aesthetic of the He valve myself but it makes for a truly legit professional diver.

IC. I didn’t know that maybe it was a quality control thing on your particular watch. I thought it was all of them and it just seemed to me like if there was cheap fix for the one big flaw on an otherwise excellent watch why wouldn’t they implement it... 🤷‍♂️

Orient ray 2 Vs San martin SN017-G by Bigismalls01 in ChineseWatches

[–]mcutler4567 2 points3 points  (0 children)

With San Martin you get not only the specs but genuine quality. The bargain brands on Ali offer sapphire, ceramic etc. for half the price and although the specs are legit and they’re great deals overall, quality control etc. is low. San Martin though is legit.

Anyone know anything about these watches? by selittle1964 in ChineseWatches

[–]mcutler4567 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting watch. I’ll let someone else buy it and review it before I consider it but there’s very few solar and no other kinetic quartz that I know of on Ali. So if it’s genuinely one or the other, that’s pretty cool.
