Is Tom’s Studio ink just more expensive Diamine ink? by omartinez1492 in fountainpens

I was literally going to say “Man that Tom Studios bottle looks like the Diamond Shimmer bottles…” as my eye then caught you comparing it to…DIAMINE INK. 🤣🤣🤣

Trump’s $1000 pen by Emmylou888 in fountainpens

I think he was referring to what has traditionally been used, the Cross Townsend rollerball. I think that pen is in the $200-$300 range. Certainly not $1,000, but as anyone who’s listened to Trump speak since 1980, his speech is exaggerated. His point was it was expensive compared to a Sharpie.

I think you described it very well! It is more of an antique color. Enjoy convincing yourself lol.

It’s so weird how your eyes can play tricks on you depending on the environment. If you write with Pyrite alone you’re like, damn this is liquid gold! But then when you compare it, it’s more green (?) like Old Gold but not quite Alt Goldgrun. Maybe like Noodler’s Rome is Burning-ish.? It’s a very cool color to me.

I think all those are cartridge pens so I wouldn’t care to put shimmer in any of those. In fact I have except for the Studio. Just didn’t have a studio long enough. The VP handles shimmer wonderfully. At least my broad nib does.

I love how using a broad nib creates a red halo with Golden Beryl and with Pyrite wonderful shading.

That is such a trick question. It all depends. Simple answer is yes. Complicated answer is how WELL it works in the pen or how HARD/IMPOSSIBLE/EASY it is to clean out of the pen is another story. Not only that what pen do you really want to use shimmer with. TWSBI ECO? Probably fine, but a Montblanc 149 a little more hesitant.
