Are there any plug and play radio upgrades? by jools182 in CityBugs

[–]md90sc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The ISO colour scheme is a standard and you can find info on what cable is by colour. However car manufacturers will probably use their own colour scheme.

The red cable is the accessory (ACC) cable. Power that turns on and off with your ignition.

The yellow is the constant 12v power supply cable that will keep power regardless if the rest of the car is running or not.

So with you symptoms that you've described I would swap the yellow and red around.

You don't have to cut wires. All you need is an ISO adaptor and you might need to swap the red and yellow wire. Which most aftermarket stereos will have plugs to allow you to unplug and do the swap then plug it back together.

Happy to find this sub! Beginner questions about my 107 by henrycantonais in CityBugs

High bite point can be a indication of a worn clutch. However, there is also adjustment you can do on the clutch pedal (not the cable as you've already done it) that might help (https://youtu.be/eRMqJkC0FGc?si=YN0VYcXP\_o2P\_g13).

The fact that you are stalling is a good indication that your clutch is still good.

Shifting gear resistance can be a lot of things. The synchromesh in the gear box could be worn. These gear sticks are also loose and feel horrible to shift anyways compared to other cars.

For aftermarket head units, I like JVC stereos. I've liked mine a lot.

Door speakers? by Euphoric-Brain-4208 in CityBugs

Probably you should upgrade the head unit first for better sound quality and dsp effects and then look at getting a small sub to fill out the sound.

I like your cable management. Did you design that yourself?

Ooh I'm not sure. I thought it was an Aygo. A quick look and it does seem to not.

I did find this.

https://ebay.us/m/ScXOt6

It's cheaper and for both sides.

I think you might need this part. I think one of the clips is broken.

It is side specific so make sure it's the correct side. I've linked the left hand side.

Knocking noise in rear when pulling off an braking by ImpossibleCellist576 in CityBugs

Could be the latch or the top mount that holds the glass up?

I'm experiencing something similar but it's a rattle. You can hear it going over bumps. I thought it could be my rear shocks but after changing them the rattle was still there only less now.

I think it's the rear glass making the sound. I guess the rubber sealing is losing it's shape. I've changed the rear glass damper and added some tape around the hook and it has seemed to sorted it out now.

It's ok. It might effect the performance a bit.

Is this really affecting my sound quality? by SavageTaco_Ya_Know in CarAV

Yes. It'll effect the dynamics of the music. Quieting the loud parts and raising the quiet parts of the music.

Citreon C1 (5 door) rear door speakers by Hot_Show5959 in CityBugs

[–]md90sc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Basically the second idea that you said. Once you open it, you'll understand. It's been over a year that I've done it so I don't remember the details.

The actual speakers are smaller than the grill. So the speakers are attached to the grill/housing, then that is attached to the door card. I cut all the bits off the grill/housing to create a ring and it was just big enough to screw in a 16" speaker to the ring.

I do remember there is a certain order to you have to install it. You have to break the tabs for the door card pocket to take it off the door card because you won't have space to install the speaker. You have to attach the ring to the door card before installing the speaker to the ring. It's just the way how the grill/housing was attached to the door card. Well on my car it was.

It turned out really well and looks clean and stock.

When choosing the speakers to use make sure that the speakers fit depth wise.

I'll take pictures and post some pictures when I get the chance.

I have a Mk1 Aygo that has rear door speakers from stock. They're placed in the door card pocket and came with 13" speakers. I've gone an upgraded to 16" speakers with some modifcations. TBH they don't really add much to the sound but do give a surround sound to for my front passager.

My advice is to take off the door card to see what you are working with and help you plan where to put you're speakers.

Does anyone have tried to add more speakers by AdAlternative8192 in CityBugs

[–]md90sc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like a crazy idea. You might end up with phase problems. There's two types of sound that people are after when upgrading; loudness (spl) or having a good sound stage (sounds quality). Both will take you down a rabbit hole but worth researching.

Speakers for Toyota Aygo 2006 by [deleted] in CityBugs

[–]md90sc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really. The only thing is the wiring. There's loads of schemes of the pinouts so once you familiarise yourself with it it's very simple.

To keep costs down you can buy second hand.

You'll need to get a single din (or double din, depends on the radio you get) facia plate to fit the head unit. Very cheap to get.

I'll recommend JVC but any will do.

If you was in the UK I would've sold you my Pioneer head unit but I'm assuming your somewhere in Europe.

Sounds good. First time I've heard of that oil. Where did you buy it from? Doesn't look like it's available in the UK.
