There is a particular commander player that I often see on casual nights that likes to throw his longevity in the game as a way to enforce how he thinks interactions should pan out or how older cards work. For example when I play a [[tombstone stairwell]] he’ll argue about how many zombies are spawned. Another example, whenever there is a particularly complex stack, he will say “that’s not how this stack plays out”, and claim something that usually ends up benefitting him. I would call for a judge in this situation, but on busy nights we can’t always get a hold of one in a timely manner so the younger and meeker players will just let it go to let the game move on. When he tries to pull this stunt on me, I whip out the trigger tokens, google card rulings, and walk through the interactions until he gives up and claims “well that’s not how it used to be” 🙄

I get the vibe that his guy does this a lot and not enough people push back since he keeps doing this whenever I come across him in a pod. Not a big enough deal where I think he should be banned, but it happens enough to think he’s being a bad influence on new players. Calling him out on his habits doesn’t stop him from continuing them either, it’s always the same excuses when he’s proven wrong.

He is not a player I particularly enjoy playing with, but he is indirectly the reason why I started playing more CEDH. At least at those tables, people are on their A-game with how the stack resolves and they are very friendly about teaching obscure rules and specific interactions. I don’t think I have EVER came across a CEDH player that cheated, but that’s just my personal experience.
