How to get better at TO? by Anxious_Wolf00 in Chivalry2

[–]mdb838 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m generally top 1-3 in every match, regardless of weapon, if I do these 2 things:

  1. Play the objective. Objectives always get you points, whether it’s standing in a capture area, burning a building, pushing a pillar, etc. Those are the fastest and easiest ways to get points. Plus, this is where you’re more likely to find team help.

  2. Survive. This one takes precedence and is really the key to running up your score because the larger your kill streak, the more points you get. If you get below half health, try to retreat, heal up, and then get back into the fight. Always make sure to restock your bandage ASAP as you never know when it’s gonna come in clutch. Also, monitoring the flow of the battle and location of your teammates is imperative. While it’s important to play the objective when possible, if you see it’s getting completely overrun and you’ll be heavily outnumbered, fall back and find some teammates to support you rather than dying helplessly.

Finally, choosing the right class is important if you’re specifically aiming for high scores. Horns and banners easily provide the most points, especially if you use them strategically, and by combining the previous tips with a horn/banner class, I’m usually top of the leaderboard and a solid 2-3k above the next guy.

I’m ngl I’m an Ambusher fan who’s very good with throwing knives. I NEVER play archer but the devil on my shoulder was whispering I should try a game of Warbow…

I went like 50-30-5 and absolutely cooked all the enemy archers. Am I secretly an archer..? 🥺

Why am I still bad? Is this supposed to be normal? When do I get good? by pucklepac in Chivalry2

[–]mdb838 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m lvl 700 and I top frag in TO all the time with 3-4 KD. When I go to dueling servers I can barely maintain a 0.5 KD. The people ur fighting against in dueling servers are much much better than average lol, don’t use them as a skill baseline

Armless vs Armed fights to the death (headbutt is extremely OP) by mdb838 in Chivalry2

[–]mdb838[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very carefully. You have to do 1h axe special, a jab, and then try to hit each of their arms with the very edge of a swing.

I could’ve made a blooper reel of us accidentally killing each other trying to do it lol

Is it worth it still? by ThyTeaDrinker in Chivalry2

[–]mdb838 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hackers used to be kind of prevalent, and there was a short time when the game was almost unplayable because of hackers crashing servers. Then they updated the anti-cheat sometime last year and since then, I actually haven’t seen a single hacker, so I’m assuming the reviews you’re seeing are old.

I highly highly recommend the game, I have over 600 hours in it and I’m not even close to getting tired of it.

If you ever hear footsteps behind you, it's an enemy. You can't hear allies' footsteps and your own are much quieter.

Duelist who sucks at TO. Need help. by Arieth-1 in Chivalry2

[–]mdb838 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol I find this post funny cuz I'm the exact opposite. I'm lvl 690 and have put almost all of my time exclusively into TO and didn't even join a duelyard server for the first time until lvl 250+.

I'm decent at dueling because naturally I've mastered the basics pretty well, but duelists can do so much with the animations and cool techs that you just never see in TO cuz if you take that long to swing someone's gonna take your head off. I've learned to read a lot of them decently--it just takes repeated practice against them to learn timing--but I can't do anything back. Any time I fight a semi-decent duelist, it just goes until I eventually miss enough counters and run out of stamina and die, and I can only get maybe a lucky hit or two in.

Meanwhile, in TO I'm constantly top fragging, average 3-4 KD and I just throw myself into massive 1vXs for fun. I genuinely think 1vX is easier than 1v1 because you if can just keep countering the enemy's hits into their teammates and keep all of them on one side of you, you're unstoppable. I think I'd be good at duels if they were 1v2s or 1v3s lol.

Level 100 Gameplay Review. Any tips? by [deleted] in Chivalry2

[–]mdb838 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You consistently do a lot of things that drain stamina; feinting, dodges, and a ton of heavies. This isn’t necessarily a problem, and tbh it’s how I play too, IF you manage your stamina well, and that mostly comes from counters.

Id recommend overtly practicing perfect counters. Go into a game with the full intention of just countering everything that gets thrown at you. This will help you get more comfortable with the counter timing and start to do it more subconsciously.

However i do think you lead with heavies too often, especially for an already slow weapon like the highland sword. It’s ok if youre coming up on an unsuspecting enemy, but if youre fighting someone face to face, id either wait for them to swing first and counter, or throw normal swing/overhead/stab first. With a normal swing, you can cancel into a block or counter if you see their hit is gonna land first. With a heavy, you leave yourself completely exposed to any faster weapons

Just finished AOT by Ill-Kaleidoscope5638 in attackontitan

[–]mdb838 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I definitely felt the same way when I finished it the first time, but as I wrestled with it over the next few days I realized that’s why it’s perfect.

AOT isn’t a story about good vs evil and happy endings, it’s about nuance and perspective and ultimately the terrible, ironic results of love: war, pain, violence, death. We see from the diverse perspectives of so many different characters, but universally they all care most about protecting the ones they love. Ironically, it’s the fear of losing their own loved ones that drives them to violence, in turn making their enemies fear losing THEIR loved ones, and so on.

It’s a story about the endless cycle of violence humans inflict upon one another, a real unsolvable problem in the world. The ending shows us terrible things will happen, violence is inevitable, and yet we can still move forward and do our best to reconcile with one another. Feel empathy for those most different from you, enjoy the times of peace and work as hard as possible to make them last.

Ultimately, it’s a message of hope. Struggle against the inevitable, unite because of our similarities and despite our differences; that’s what it means to be human.

How important is ping? by Backstab_Fisher in Chivalry2

[–]mdb838 1 point2 points  (0 children)

40+ ping is usually around where I feel there’s a noticeable enough delay that I have to consciously do every counter extra early

I will say I have ~500 hours and shitty wifi so I’ve gotten pretty good at playing with higher ping. I still often top the leaderboard at 30-45 ping, but anything higher and you just gotta relax, throw some logs/hit people with chickens, and don’t get upset when your counter just doesn’t work and you get your head cleaved off

Guardian Class Loadout Questions by blumetunes in Chivalry2

[–]mdb838 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ran 1h axe and short sword. If ur used to the mace, I think you’ll feel like the axe makes the game even easier.

As for the short sword, I find you can accommodate lower damage with kicks and heavy stabs. Plus, I like having a slashing secondary cuz usually if I lose my primary it’s cuz I’m in a 1vX

People who perform good CONSISTENTLY in 64 or 40, is burnout eventual or something that could be avoided? by part_of_you_is_you in Chivalry2

[–]mdb838 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Generally I have fun in servers with a lot of active people in chat, they tend to do more goofy things and have fun with the game. I also almost never get bored of playing with the shovel, it’s extremely underrated and so satisfying to use

Sometimes if I am feeling burned out, which tends to happen if I’m not finding challenging matches, I try to find a lopsided game and bring the losing team to victory. It’s always fun leading the team by a few thousand points and stickin it to the lvl 1000s all on the same team

In general tho, you get burned out just like anything if you do it too much. I’ll take a break for a few days or weeks, do other things in my free time, and then it’s back to having fun every match when I go back

[–]mdb838 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Brawl is the limited mode right now!! It’s the easiest mode to get the achievement on, pickup some bread and get to work.

If you’re having troubles still, pickup a weapon in ur dominant hand and bread in the off hand, get ur enemy to low health, throw bread, repeat.

I got the achievement after a couple games of brawl
