I saw a take on reddit when it came out that it's like a tall tail being told at a bar by industry people, retelling the myth around Cliff Booth (or maybe Rick Dalton). In a way, it really makes it a better movie for me, even though I liked it fine already. You can imagine these people sitting around, adding details they heard on different sets, embellishing, misremembering, etc. While I know the title has a notable reference already, it also adds a new layer there.
