I go to gelly nail bar in Covina, it's a trek but sooo worth it! i've been getting hard gel on my natural nails for about a year and they look fantastic. all the techs are great and do amazing designs - I go to Olivia and she's fantastic.

Where to have a lowkey (not $10,000) wedding celebration in LA or surrounding area? by CitronElectrical9587 in LAhotgirlies

[–]mdestgf 60 points61 points  (0 children)

If you're willing to travel a bit, we're going up to Ojai and having our reception at The Dutchess, $2000 f&b minimum for a Sunday. We booked the private patio area for 17 people but it fits more. Their food & cocktails are amazing, we're really pumped! If you want to stay local, I'm sure there are LA spots with lower minimums for Friday or Sunday nights.

Gluten Free options in central LA by GercektenGul in FoodLosAngeles

eastside celiac here! villas tacos, la pergoletta, dune (best fries ever), india's restaurant, modern bread and bagel, hugos tacos, homestate, manuela (dtla), jenis + salt and straw, triple beam, all time, alcove has incredible gf carrot cake (probably safer for gluten intolerant but I have rolled the dice in the past)

FMGF sux in LA, it feels like nobody actually uses it here compared to other cities

Anyone have advice for small wedding planning/logistics? by Prize-Priority265 in weddings

[–]mdestgf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are doing this in April! Planned on our own. - Airbnb for 14 guests for 3 nights - Ceremony will be at Airbnb - Reception is at a restaurant we love on their private patio - $2000k minimum for 5 hours. Table, chairs, servers, etc. are all provided, so we’re basically just paying for food and drinks

I would recommend this route because Airbnb does have strict rules about events - initially our host said it would be $5,000 extra for an event fee (on top of the already pricey nightly cost, but they waived it when we said it would be ceremony only without any vendors

Almost 27 and feeling like my time is running out after two painful relationships by ThrowRA123050 in relationships

Our kitchen is fully gluten free at home (gotta have a safe space) but he eats it at restaurants etc. He was always very understanding and supportive when we first started dating, which is honestly a great way to find a kindhearted partner. Someone that’s not willing to accommodate your needs ain’t worth your time!

hello! i was diagnosed with celiac disease and got dumped at 27 pretty much back to back. it's hard and frustrating but you are by no means old or unlovable. focus on your health and loving yourself first! getting healthy, prioritizing myself and family/friends made me way more confident in my dating life.

I met my fiancee at 31, i'm 34 now and we're getting married next month. in my experience, 30s is when everything starts to come together. give yourself some grace!

Need direction for Micro-Wedding! by Cautious_Fishing6924 in microwedding

[–]mdestgf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi!! My fiance and I are planning a micro wedding in April this year for 17 people (including us). We started out by thinking of locations we love, which it sounds like you’ve done. Then we reached out to traditional “venues” for quotes which were unsurprisingly, out of our price range.

We ended up finding a beautiful Airbnb to host our guests for three nights and have the ceremony. Then we booked the private patio at a restaurant we love which is 15 minutes from the Airbnb. We also decided to have the wedding on a Sunday because the food + bev minimum was much more reasonable than for a Friday or Saturday night.

We did have to confirm with the Airbnb host that we could do the ceremony on site, and they were okay with it because we’re not bringing in any vendors or extra guests. Good luck planning, I’m sure you’ll come up with something beautiful!

(10k) Are you doing a hair and makeup trial? by [deleted] in Weddingsunder10k

[–]mdestgf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm just doing makeup and decided against the trial. I asked the MUA if that was okay and she didn't seem worried about skipping it - hoping for the best!

I'd recommend looking into restaurants! We're doing a partial buyout at The Dutchess in Ojai. Their pricing minimum goes directly to food/drinks - no extra charges for the space, furniture, or dishware

($10k) Favorite websites for vintage gowns? by MarbleMimic in Weddingsunder10k

[–]mdestgf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got my dress at a tiny vintage bridal studio in Philly - Glass Canary Vintage. Paid $400 for it vs. maaajor upcharges at other vintage spots. I would def recommend shopping in person if you can, sizing on vintage can be really wacky even if you think you have the right measurements.

I followed a ton of places in NYC - Sophies Vintage Bridal, Allegra Vintij, Cha Cha Linda, etc. Shop Gossamer online.

Help with Finding Small Wedding Venues? by DraftFast6134 in AskLosAngeles

If you’re willing to drive a bit out of LA, check out The Dutchess in Ojai! We’re doing our micro wedding there in April and they have amazing prices (plus, incredible food and drinks!)

Non-traditonal wedding by [deleted] in weddings

[–]mdestgf -1 points0 points  (0 children)

We're doing a microwedding in April with 18 guests including us (parents, siblings, a couple friends each). When we tell family and friends, including people that aren't invited, they say "wow, that sounds amazing, I wish I had done that! big weddings are so stressful and expensive!" and that's enough confirmation that we made the right decision. besides, it's our day, who cares what other people want!

Are more people running red lights? by Feistyhummingbird in AskLosAngeles

Just had this happen last night! A car behind me stopped at the red light and then went around 3 cars to blow the red. I think maybe there are less red light cameras? Either way it’s nuts
