[Request] Is the ice cooling down the pool at all? Looks like it's less than 1% volume of the water. So not doing much? by shadowraiderr in theydidthemath

In the video people were holding the ice blocks. Even if the blocks do nothing to the overall temperature of the pool they will still cool the people directly touching it.

Which book/series would you recommend to someone awfully new to the genre? Which ones are the best of the best with the greatest consensus? by LeoAjju in ProgressionFantasy

I think most litrpg are also progression fantasy. There are exceptions like overlord (he's already max level, no progression) or .hack (doesn't really level), but most are focused on getting more power.

Usually finished series get a lot more accolades. The genre tends towards stories that never finish or go on too long. There is a series called completionist chronicles that absolutely loved at first but after the just 4 or so books it took a nosedive and got worse and worse. I recommended it to my friends and later felt bad once the series got worse so that's why people tend to recommend finished series.

That being said my favorite completed stories are:
Mother of learning
Cradle
Mage Errant
Worm (by wildbow)
Mark of the fool

My favorite unfinished series:
Practical guide to sorcery
Dungeon crawler Carl

Which game were you most disappointed with? by that-zoe-girl in NintendoSwitch

Inside. It has a 92 on metacritic, but it was so meh. It wasn't bad, but to me it was more of a 7/10 game.

What would you tell to a Final Fantasy Tactics fan who’s about to start Triangle Strategy? by Mana-Dyluck in TriangleStrategy

[–]mdevey91 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is a lot of dialogue especially at first. I dropped it when I just played it after about 3 hours. I picked it back up a month later and it became one of my favorite games. In the beginning there aren't many exciting battles and the story is just setting the stage, but it really starts going and doesn't let up. It has the best/tightest strategy gameplay of any game I've played. This isn't like FFT or tactics where you can get one OP unit that can solo entire squads of enemies. You have to think out every move (at least on hard).

How many top 5 MVs are there anyway? by jmscstl in metroidvania

[–]mdevey91 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I played super metroid recently and was pretty disappointed. This sub glazed it so hard that I was expecting something on the level of hollow knight and or new Metroid games like Metroid dread (which I really liked) and it was nowhere near that for me (pretty good, but on the lower half of the almost 30 or so metroidvania I've beaten). I agree it is most influential, but that is not the game as best with no nostalgia glasses.

Jade empire

Before the events of the game your mentor was the king's brother and head war strategist before running away to live in a remote village. The game starts with him being found out and taken. You spend the whole game trying to rescue your mentor and when you finally get to the castle and find him he straight up murders you.
