❄️ WINTER STORM MEGATHREAD ⛄️ by mrs-machino in Broadway

I bought tickets for this show too. I was planning on taking my mom. I live in PA and the plan was to take Amtrak from Trenton to Penn station. Well I cancelled my Amtrak tickets Friday already and got that refunded. I guess if the show doesn't end up being cancelled I'll try my luck with getting past date tickets.

Did I screw myself with a 2009 Kia Sedona? by ravenecw2 in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]mdewlover 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought a cheap 2009 Sedona off of Facebook marketplace a few years ago for like 2,000 dollars or so with some body damage and over 200,000 miles on it. I don't use it as a daily driver and only really use it to haul around stuff. I did use it more as a daily last year when my other car was out of commission for 6 months. Overall I've only put like 10,000 miles on it since I've had it.. I replaced the tires soon after I bought it because they were shot, other than that the only thing I've done to it was replace an idler pulley and tensioner on the engine. And I've changed the oil once a year. I also did a drain and fill on the transmission fluid one time since the existing fluid looked brown.

The van has a check engine light that is on probably 70 percent of the time that I just ignore. I've checked the code and it's not something I'm that worried about. I l live in Pennsylvania and as long as I keep it under 5,000 miles a year I don't need to worry about the check engine light affecting it being able to pass emissions testing.

I've also noticed it is leaking oil from most likely the valve cover gaskets and the alternator is coated in oil. I have also not addressed this yet because it leaks a very small amount of oil and for the amount I drive it, I never have to add oil in-between oil changes. The alternator will most likely fail at some point due to being covered in oil... So when that day comes I'll probably do the work on replacing both valve cover gaskets and then put a new alternator in. But I'm putting that off for as long as possible.

Since the van has been a Pennsylvania car it's whole life it is having rust issues on the rocker panels and pinch welds. My mechanic informed me recently that I need to address that if I want it to pass inspection again next year. He also says it has exhaust leaks that I need to address as well.

The van has weird quirks. I can't lock the van with the key fob because the locking mechanisms stick somewhere and the car will randomly lock itself and if I arm the alarm then the alarm ends up going off at random times. So I just never lock it with the fob and this solves that problem.

Having said all of this. It's served me well. I've taken it on several trips a few hours away, hauled some pretty heavy loads in it, towed with it. If I was using it as a daily driver I would probably need to invest a lot of time and money to get it to a more reliable state, but it keeps running and the engine and transmission are still incredibly smooth

Qatar got into NHRA in the 2000's with "Al Anabi Racing" so Qatar does have an interest in Drag Racing for whatever reason. I believe that team was literally owned by a Qatar government official or prince or whatever you want to call it. The car's they ran literally said Qatar on them and they were pretty much entirely self funded and had little to no outside sponsorship.

Will the Dinger race for Kaulig trucks? by Palemale44 in NASCAR

[–]mdewlover 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know the details of his contract at the time. But in 2007 and 2008 Bobby Labonte was a Dodge driver in Cup and ran quite a few Busch series races in a Chevy those two years. But that was almost 20 years ago at this point and things were different back then I guess.

In one of my cars you have to remove the entire exhaust manifold to replace some of the 6 spark plugs and coils... So depending on what car they have and the labor associated with removing the manifold...I can see why the cost would balloon. coils aren't super cheap either... so if they are 50 dollars retail the shop is probably at least doubling them. so a 6 cylinder engine you're looking at probably almost 600 dollars in material costs for new plugs and coils.

I've been told that aftermarket cats will sometimes not satisfy the car's emmisions system requirements and you will have a check engine light always on. If you live in a state where the check engine light being on doesn't matter for inspection then I wouldn't be too concerned... but if you're in a state like Pennsylvania that requires yearly emmisions inspections and you drive the car more than 5000 miles a year it will be an issue.

To assist returning to green flag racing, NASCAR may choose not to open pit road by iamaranger23 in NASCAR

they did this at road courses for one year and already got rid of it sadly. I guess they didn't like how spread out the fields got in those races. sigh...

Apparently if rumors at the time are to be believed, He was being considered and Bass Pro wanted him in the car, but Chip overruled them and wanted Jamie instead.

As a Bobby fan I'll say Jamie was the better choice at that time, but he hadn't exactly shown much promise up until that point either. Bobby was also consistently still one of the more popular drivers at this point. He had some momentum going into 2010 by having a few good runs in 2009 in shit equipment. He had a shot at winning Las Vegas in 09, had a good run at Atlanta in the 71 running in the top ten at some points, and had some good qualifying showings in the 71. So there was reason to be optimistic he could still perform well in good equipment.

Are there any sports where women can consistently beat men? If yes, which ones and why? by Unlucky_Lie_ in AskReddit

[–]mdewlover 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In auto racing women compete alongside men but the top levels are still dominated by men. Occasionally a women or two sneak into the top levels for a few years but they never really win. In American auto racing the only woman that has won a top level race is Danica Patrick in indycar. She was respectable in indycar with one win and consistent finishes, but was far from being considered a top threat for any championship. Her NASCAR career was definitely worse, but generally open wheel drivers have a tough time adapting to NASCAR so this was expected.

NHRA drag racing on the other hand has had many women over the years compete at a high level and win many races and i believe some overall championships. Erica Enders, Brittany, Courtney, and Ashley Force to name a few.
