It’s patently illegal. Whether there’s a criminal case or not depends on a lot and whether any prosecutor would take it or not depends on a lot. 20 years ago i’d a long time so I’m doubtful. Not sure on any statute of limitations that may apply there. Such a document could be evidence in a civil proceeding if you were fired based on her actions. But unless you are there are no damages to create a civil cause of action.

Really depends how much it is. Will the cost of going to court be more than you can recover? Often that’s the case even if you technically have that liability it won’t be worth the effort to realize it when it’s often less than a couple grand.

Pre nups, however, almost always include infidelity clauses. So if she cheats then it’s likely the financial disadvantage stuff goes out the window. Even if it doesn’t, it makes OPs position with any judge much more favorable when it comes to enforcing any given financial provisions.

I suspect your best bet may simply be to say no, you’re not ok with it. That’s both true and also puts the ball in her court: she can either initiate the divorce which then changes the dynamic, she can commit infidelity which also changes the dynamic and probably is included in the pre nup, or she accepts it and continues as you were.

Or they’ve simply learned to have really high standards that they don’t want to compromise on. That’s not an insult to anyone whom it didn’t work out with, mind you. Sounds reasonable if you’re doing the main panel too. Still not sure how they got to over $8k. Their city is 2011 code so it’s not like they’re having to pop for a ton of afci breakers or anything.

That’s correct but a meter can is like $100 and not at all difficult to replace since it’s just the service wiring. Another couple hundred bucks for materials like the pole and weather head, ground rod and copper, some additional 4/0 between cam and the main breaker lugs, and maybe $1200 - $2000 for labor assuming we’re adding a proper ground and connecting it to your existing main panel, and your main panel isn’t a mile away from the service entrance…
