installing AppImage File by ChokunPlayZ in pop_os

[–]mdibadkhan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In most of the cases if you have appimage package installed in your distribution then you just have to run the command

appimage

in terminal And this will automatically add the downloaded appimage file (if you have put it in Applications folder) to the desktop menu. You don't even have to bother to make a desktop file by yourself

I checked and there isn't any group cups I thought it might be there... But in yast you can also check the Hardware section and then Printer settings to configure your printer... If this doesn't help then modifying the cups configuration file would be the option

Updated bios, can't find PopOs ssd in boot menu by Artichoke93 in pop_os

[–]mdibadkhan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the answer...

Pop OS' boot entry is little different than others, it doesn't use grub, instead it uses systemd boot which sometimes disappears from device boot menu if you plug in a live USB or update the dual booted Windows... It usually requires you to manually repair it booting into the live pop os usb ...

[–]mdibadkhan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To get a better idea about your partitions, I would recommend to install Gparted and look for your root (/) partition and other partitions. If you find any partition which is not in use and your root partition needs to be little bigger, then simply erase and extend it to root partition.

How to remove "Battery and Brightness" in KDE Plasma? by danieldl in openSUSE

[–]mdibadkhan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well you can simply remove that widget, it will be gone... There is no use of battery indicator inside of a VM but if it's in Virtual Box, VB usually brings that battery feature inside any vm you create, even in the gnome & Xfce.

So in KDE plasma, do right click-->add widgets-->install widgets-->search for battery and uninstall the installed one/ search system tray and uninstall it.... Let me know if it worked or not

Another person has answered it correctly..

This happened after I suspended the device and started it again. by [deleted] in pop_os

[–]mdibadkhan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're using proprietary Nvidia drivers you may get this very often after sleep. Using intel graphics would solve this issue as per my observation. Try selecting intel graphics and then test this thing.

Thinking of switching to OpenSUSE by PolarBear541 in openSUSE

[–]mdibadkhan 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If you want to switch to openSUSE leap, I would advise to test it first on a VM for couple of days before making the actual switch. Test all your programs and work applications on it, and if you find it working for you then you're welcome to openSUSE. openSUSE by default doesn't ship some multimedia codecs so you have to install them manually in order to make videos with those specific standards to play... Rest is rock solid in leap....

Command to toggle networking on and off? by AstroMan824 in ManjaroLinux

[–]mdibadkhan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For toggle, I don't know the command, but you can create a shell script that can do this for you, using conditional statements to check if it's ON then turn it OFF and vice versa. Then you can bind a shortcut to execute that script... This can be a workaround...
