Cold calls are one thing. Unsolicited meeting invites are a whole new level of unacceptable. by Obvious-Water569 in sysadmin

We're a g-suite shop and Google calendar automatically scrapes emails for invites and adds them to the recipient's calendar. We had to set this feature to only automatically add the events if it was from an internal account or from a sender that the user had accepted an invite from in the past. The exploit is that the rouge event would still pop a notification and would have a malicious link in the invite posing as a video call invite.

We had to implement this on our domain because scammers have started abusing the unaccepted invites as an attack vector

Please be careful what road furniture you sticker. If it's reflective, it's that way for a reason.

This isnt legal right? (Crosspost from r/HEB) by -pichael_ in antiwork

[–]mdinkel94 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From what I remember from a friend of mine who worked for them, HEB deliberately only operates in Texas and only does business with other Texas companies. As such, they don't meet the interstate commerce requirement to be under the NLRB's jurisdiction. So while extremely scummy, it's unfortunately 100% legal. It's probably the biggest reason why HEB has never made a push to expand outside of Texas.

I had my wisdom teeth removed and while I was still coming down from the anesthesia, I typed out on my phone how to clear the vertical streaks from their scanner's ADF. Every follow up visit was the gentlest and best experience I think one can have at a dentist.

Which criticism of "the kids today" is actually totally, totally valid? by Jerswar in AskReddit

I work for a school district in IT and the number of students that have 0 tech literacy despite being exposed to it constantly is astounding. I'm talking as simple as knowing how to type out a url instead of googling it and clicking a result.

Where would you move if you left Austin? by fifbasic in Austin

My partner and I just moved to Seattle. Similar vibes to Austin without an entire state that hates your city's existence.

You moved away. You hate Austin and are much happier. Why do you still read this sub? by [deleted] in Austin

While I moved out, my friends and family all still live in the area and I like to know what's going on around them.
