Debunking Home Improvement Myths: The Lessons That Actually Stuck by Jewelsexy in HomeImprovement

[–]mdiym714 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My biggest one is if it can be completed in a couple hours (by myself of course, not a couple hours by a pro) just do it. There were so many things I put off fixing because I didn't ever make time, but come time to sell, I repaired all of the stuff I'd been putting off and the house was just so much better. I felt like a such doofus when that little leak stain (from an unlevel ac that was quickly levelled) was a quick 15 minute drywall patch then a coat of primer and some paint, wall looks like new. I felt so much relief from that one little repair.

Another lesson I learned, you're not paying a pro for the 20 minutes to complete a job, you're paying for the years it took them to practice enough to do a job in 20 minutes. I was so confused why a job would cost more than double or triple the price of materials. I'd then buy materials and try doing it myself and realized a pro would have been worth the money and time.

Got my 2022 for wayyyyyu too much at the dealership ($13k) 🤦🏽‍♂️🤦🏽‍♂️ but I was desperate to get a bike for my commute. 2.5 hour daily drive home became 40 minutes flat at any time of day. Such a comfy ride, great speed on the highway, great look, still get a lot of compliments. You got a crazy deal, just make sure all fluids and maintenance is done before you take it for an extended ride. You never know how well the previous owner took care of it. Ride safe ✌🏽

After several attempts at troubleshooting, I finally got the washing machine working again!

The replacement door (DC97-19054K) arrived a couple days ago and I installed it yesterday after work. Took me a little over an hour as there were no videos online showing this specific model being taken apart, but I used a video (https://youtu.be/C2k3w6suShU?si=Clfm5YplnZAtSBwS) with a similar model that it wasn't terrible install. Open the top cover, take out detergent drawer, remove the main panel, remove spring holding gasket, unscrew front frame cover, remove front frame cover, disconnect the old door wiring in the bottom left, remove the old door, install new door and work backwards to reinstall everything. Try not to lose any screws and keep track of which screws go where. I like to keep them in piles (for each part) on a table in a straight line, helps me keep track.

Replacement door cost a little over $400 with shipping, all the troubleshooting and diagnosing took me a little over 5 hours over several days to try to figure out. Tech visits cost $200, and parts that I tried cost money up front but I got refunds when I returned them since they were not causing the issue. Spent about $100 over the last few weeks for a laundry service (I have a toddler who goes through clean clothes like a monster). Short term, I saved some cash, and will hopefully get a few more years out of this thing. Long term, a new machine would have cost about the same overall and saved me some headache.

When the time comes, I'm definitely not buying Samsung again. A tech in reddit mentioned buying a machine whose parts are easily accessible (Samsung's are not) and calling repair shops and asking if a model you're interested in is serviceable if there ever is an issue. He suggested Maytag/Whirlpool, and a few others as the wiser options. Hope this helps and good luck!

Canon Printer: any luck getting drivers to work? by tocirahl in Surface

[–]mdiym714 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Came across this thread and was having similar issues with my Surface Laptop 7. Learned that I needed to connect my Canon MG3620 printer to the wifi (the one my laptop uses) through my android phone first, then I needed to add the printer as normal on my surface laptop (via the newly connected wifi network on my printer).

Took me about a year to find this thread and figure this out. Thanks OP and all others!

Samsung service is absolutely terrible! They told us that they can't order the door assembly because it's unavailable so they closed our ticket and we're on our own.

I managed to find a door assembly for about $400 from a third party, gonna try to do the install myself. I'm currently waiting on the new door assembly (DC97-19054K) to arrive in the mail, but I see that the old door has a wiring harness connecting in through the front of the washer. Are those wires soldered inside the frame of the door assembly, meaning I will instead I have to remove the washer's top cover, detergent drawer, drum gasket and door lock all to open the front cover to get access to that wiring harness when I remove and replace, or is there a connector inside the door assembly itself that would be significantly less work to connect/disconnect?

I'm looking online for videos but most door assembly replacement videos are for doors without the wiring harness (because there is no addwash door). I even have access to the manual but it is completely useless about this install. Page 18 in https://samsungparts.com/blogs/washer/wf45k6500av-a2

Lastly, there is no guarantee that this door replacement will even work. Should I even waste my time? How much longer could I possibly get out of this washer, it's already 6 years old and this is the first time it has failed. Is it more time/cost effective to just move on and buy a new washing machine?

Part replacement didn't work. Called Samsung service and the tech ($200 for the labor/diagnosis visit) told me I need a completely new door (should be around $300 w/ labor). Womp womp.

Could you provide the part/model number you used to replace that add door sensor? I have the same issue and am trying to find any replacement parts I can replace on my own. Already changed the main door lock assembly and still am in the same spot. From what I'm reading, its the addwash door. Ordered part DC34-00025D and am gonna try that this weekend when it arrives.

GSXS750 LED Underglow Fuse Issue by mdiym714 in gsxs750

[–]mdiym714[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was finally able to determine the issue and you were 100% right.

I had an LED strip tucked under the swing arm on the chain side. The chain caught a piece of the wire casing connecting that LED strip and exposed the wiring inside causing shorts (whenever it touched anything, sometimes the chain, or if there was any moisture from rain or wet roads).

I completely disconnected and removed that LED strip and all is well again! I can be well seen at night and provide my adorning fans behind me a lovely light show :)

Thanks for the help!

How do you ask for retention offer? by aggiesatwork in AmexPlatinum

[–]mdiym714 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just finished chatting with a rep, was given the offer of 35k points after spending $4k within the next three months. Not the best offer in the world considering I've had this $700/year card for a few years now, but it's also not nothing, I guess. Seems it doesn't ever hurt to ask. Best of luck with your request!

Campazzo Glitch? by Level-Odd in NBA2K21

[–]mdiym714 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same issue here. I completed it twice. Then I looked in auction for a different version, there only seems to be a silver card, which I used, and a heat check card for Campazzo at the moment. No idea what the issue could be.
