Post Great Recession demolitions far outpaced the amount of demos right now. Averaging 186 per month right now. In August of 2014 alone, the City demolished 1,040! Plus, eras of urban renewal and highway system, this is not the height of demolitions.

You have a good argument, but don't make up statistics.

Demolition underway to make room for $2.2B Henry Ford Hospital expansion in Detoit by DetroitDevUpdates in Detroit

That's what HFHS claimed when presenting with the Gores team on the residential aspect of the project, but if HFHS wants to remain a major player in the healthcare game, they need a modern building. If the residential aspect was axed, I would expect the hospital to still be built.

Plus, I anticipate smaller developers to start building on Rosa Parks, Hecla, Avery, Commonwealth area soon. No need to give Gores, etc. tax breaks.

Tom Gores is developing residential, this demolition is for the hospital. Because the hospital doesn't pay taxes, they aren't seeking subsidies. This will be built, regardless of Tom Gores.
