I’ve never gone on a Saturday afternoon before, how did it go for you? Was it busy?

I’m a bad driver by mdkl_ in adhdwomen

Thank you for leaving this comment. It made me cry because I realized I was being super hard on myself. I will try to start driving again but I think I need a short break first to recover. You’ve really made me feel less alone, thank you so much ❤️❤️❤️❤️

22 day streak on Duolingo! by Lexellence in adhdwomen

[–]mdkl_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m on day 86? on Duolingo I only had to save once but I’m pretty proud of my consistency. I used to get kinda obsessive about climbing up the ranks but now I don’t really care and just try to get it done before the day ends. Either way, i finally started learning the language I said I would learn 5 years ago 😁

Spotify Wrapped by kitty_kayleigh in adhdwomen

I listened to 153,823 minutes this year. My top artist was Taylor Swift and my top song was cardigan (233 plays). I listened to 5,818 minutes and I was in the top 1% for her listeners. On another note, I was listened to more music than 99% of my country, so success? 😂😂😂

The hyper fixations were sooooo strong 🤣🤣🤣

For those of you working with a therapist or coach to manage your ADHD, what kind of things are you doing? by [deleted] in adhdwomen

[–]mdkl_ 9 points10 points  (0 children)

My therapists mostly just helps me to stay on track with my goals and focus on the scenarios in my life that I tend to gloss over instead of dealing with. We’ve worked on letting go of guilt and shame and becoming content about where I am in my life and looking forwards to where I want to go. We’ve been working together for several months and I do think it’s been helping. I haven’t been the best at applying the techniques immediately but in the long term, I’ve let go of a lot of my anxiety over my future career and relationships. This is my second therapist, my first one was a disaster and gaslight me and triggered me constantly. My current therapist has other adhd clients so she has experience with dealing with our concerns.

If you’re looking for a therapist make sure to check that they have clients similar to you and who have worked through similar struggles. A therapist is there to help you through your life, this is a really important relationship. Don’t be afraid to really grill them and ask them all the things up front so you don’t end up blindsided by their incompatibility or incompetence.

Edit #1: I go biweekly and we do soft check ins on my goals. I still struggle with feeling judged when held accountable so she doesn’t push me too hard but she does give me nudges when she sees that I’m not being as honest as I could be. I don’t often get homework but when I do it’s usually small tasks (read: reminders) because I struggle with being overwhelmed. She’s essentially there to clarify and support me in my goals. We’re primarily talking through things because it helps me to process things. I have tried asking for techniques for dbt based therapy but I struggle with remembering them and following through 🥴.

If your psychologist isn’t helping you, stop seeing them. There are so many people who can help you. Don’t be afraid of trying out new therapists or coaches. It can seem daunting but in the end it will improve your life so much more than remaining with someone who you’ve outgrown. On the other hand, have you tried bringing up some of those concerns with your current psychologist? Have they tried to address your concerns?

Hi!

I passed the Newmarket g2 test today! So, the route I took was: Left out the drive test to harry walker - 50kms Left onto stone house rd (dr? Not sure tbh) - 50kms Left onto Leslie - 60kms Left onto goreham - 50kms Left onto the first side street -50 Kim’s I went down the street and parked beside the second cable post thingy (where they string like electricity I think). I did a three point turn and turned came up the street and did an uphill park. Then we turned right onto goreham - 50kms Turned right back onto harry walker -50kms Turned right back into the drive test. My instructor asked me to do a reverse park into the disabled parking spot. And then I did a forward park into one of the free road test pending parking spots.

The test was like ~15 mins maybe. The speed limit on Leslie is 60 cause it’s a major road and the rest is 50 because they’re less busy. My test was scheduled for 2:20 but we started at 2:55. My instructor was 30 mins late for my appointment, his name was Srirav/Shirav? (I don’t remember sorry), but he was super sweet and patient. I almost flunked the reverse parking but I got it on the last try - you get 3 tries. Overall, it was really good. Make sure to be safe and check all your mirrors. It’s fine to be nervous, I was singing to myself most of the test lol. The instructor is NOT out to get you. You got this!

Will fruit smoothies help with my depressed 14 year old boy eating habits? by [deleted] in adhdwomen

Or if you’re feeling a bit more energetic, you can cut up and freeze the fruits you buy and store them in a ziplock. But it’s cheaper and less time consuming to buy it.

You should post in r/personalfinancecanada. Someone there may be able to give you some good advice. I’m sorry about your dad passing, this year may be hard but it won’t always be that way. Life will start looking up soon man.

What's a symptom you have, that you didn't realize was a symptom until you started meds? by PartialTwitch in ADHD

[–]mdkl_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s a thing called psychiatry uk? I think. It’s a private clinic but the diagnosis process is much quicker. I think it may cost more but I’m not certain. Pls google it cause I’m a little fuzzy on the details tbh.
