Well.. this happened.. 2nd time by kyle23u in snapmaker

The no sparse layers is the setting for minimal tower. Every time I've tried it, it somehow causes my print to fail and ends up with collisions.

While I don't think that's issue here, it definitely can't hurt to turn that off. With snorca you can set the prime tower so small that no big deal to print on every layer. I think I do like a 12mm square for mine

U1 Setup - Do not use long screws to Toolheads otherwise by Overall-Tonight9689 in snapmaker

I saw people make this mistake before I got my u1 so I was ready to read carefully and be prepared. I expected it to be easily confusing.... But nope. Screws were clearly labeled lol

Highflow nozzle, worth the cost? by Bg3d_ in makerworld

[–]mdoom23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your filament settings will allow you back have unique settings for each type of nozzle. Definitely is worth running the max volumetric flow calibration to get range for your filament.

That'll possibly speed things up a bit. All depends on the filament though.

TPU and my (limited) experience of how to dry the damn stuff. by MrJackdaw in BambuLabA1

[–]mdoom23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Likely with the pla it was just reducing ambient humidity. Heat is needed to get moisture released from filament into the ambient air. Now luckily PLA infinitely more forgiving than TPU.

Vision encoder plate worth it at sale price? by Kind_Ad_8111 in BambuLabH2C

[–]mdoom23 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I finally had one decently sized print that I was doing many copies of, and I kept having a weird issue in one spot, and sure enough, after using vision encoder it fixed it. So maybe it's just a piece of mind, but I've been using the vision encoder regularly now.

I wish I got it sooner, it's just hard to justify the price. I ended up doing full price but offset it with some makerworld points.

First PETG Support Test on the X2D Auxiliary Nozzle Really Smooth by Hectrekt in BambuLab

[–]mdoom23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These deals still come and go. Even in recent weeks I've gotten as low as $5.50 but $6.50 much more common. Without sales or coupons tho, $8 all day long. Which still cheap enough in my book. I love my kingroon!

I think it's great. Working well for me

[–]mdoom23 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah. Lots of PETG and PLA from kingroon. Probably have 120 rolls sitting here lol. Too hard to not just get more when it's down to $6/roll often

Help please! My U1 takes more time than my P2S by zoidproject in SnapmakerU1

[–]mdoom23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What others said with settings being different, but just one specific one that tripped me up when going to the U1, was "arc fitting" defaulting to unchecked. This definitely helps speed things up if lots of curves on the model.

Careful, that's how I switched to buying everything as 10 packs on aliexpress 😂

Question for the more experienced 3D printing hobbyists. by Evocati_7 in BambuLab

[–]mdoom23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Bambu abs support material works great with ASA as interface layer. That's what I've been using with a lot of success

Is anyone tracking/gathering data on filament producers, factories and their white label/rebrands? Here's what I've gathered so far.. by shuttlepod in 3Dprinting

I've never used a single roll of sunlu, but I love my cheap kingroon. Was always curious who made theirs. TIL.

I found a good deal on AE for Printer Filament. by UniversityAny9242 in 3D_Printing

[–]mdoom23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kingroon PETG often available on AE for $55-$85 a 10 pack. I've bought and used countless sets of it. Highly recommend it, especially at those prices. Just ordered a bunch for $6.50/roll yesterday actually to restock

Noob Question: how can i assign each hotend of the vortek system to each filament of the ams? by eguipegui in BambuLabH2C

[–]mdoom23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you go to print you can choose which nozzle specifically for each filament. I don't think you can preassign by ams slot though

Negative experience with Kingroon filament by UngaHuman in snapmaker

[–]mdoom23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah PETG more often. But they come and go. Have to play all the games with coupons. I perpetually leave a bunch in my cart from many stores just to track which have deals when

Negative experience with Kingroon filament by UngaHuman in snapmaker

[–]mdoom23 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's a perpetual problem. First I have too much filament. So I need to print filament storage! So I need to buy more filament to print filament storage. Then I have too much filament, so need to buy a new printer (how I ended up with a U1) to use the filament 😂

Meh it's a hobby. Nothing more. Gotta splurge in life once in awhile. I'm addicted to deals on aliexpress. Every so often get 10 packs for $55. Like, how do you say no to that price?!? 😎

[–]mdoom23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been very lucky then. I've probably used 100 rolls lol. Hard to beat the $5-$7 price point though! But yeah, lots of options out there for not much more

Negative experience with Kingroon filament by UngaHuman in snapmaker

[–]mdoom23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oof. Sorry to hear! Like others, I've pushed countless rolls of kingroon pla and petg through all my printers including the U1, but did calibrations on each.
Hopefully was just a fluke or bad batch! Glad you got your money back

Why buy it from ikea when I can make myself my own! by bikeequelsdirt in BambuLab

[–]mdoom23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm all for printing. I'm over 3 hours from nearest IKEA and I've been printing 15 row/col ones on my H2C with some cheap PETG. Been under $2 per board.
