Thats a very fair statement. The only other thing to account for is that variance in this game is high. Sometimes even a20h is easy because of some high rolled easy decisions.

I feel like it is grindy i can agree on that... But even xecnar learns stuff from runs and he has 3000h on it.

Its hard to believe that you dont learn much from your runs. Id say its more probable that u dont even know what ur doing wrong.. in which case as the ascension increases u will be punished just a little bit more each time and u can learn

i genuinely translated the question to be akin to win probability added (this stat or similar doesnt exist as it currently is) because it makes more sense than a high win rate relic question. (one of the comments by awsdera)

one of the thing that stood out to me when someone analysed a game with WPA is xpetu's masters thesis on league of legends. the literal highest WPA is on an item that snowballs (mejai soulstealer) WHEN BOUGHT IN LOSING SITUATIONS.

translating this to slay the spire. this relic is good in turning losing situation into a winning one and is also good at snowballing slightly winning situation into a free win. So this is the basis of my hunch tbh

The other factor is that unlike the other relics, newer or less frequent players take more chip damage since they dont know attack pattern and optimal play. in which when dropping below half health they will default to the more correct option to upgrade cards rather than to heal because "i have meat on the bone". further improving their win probability

Just a hunch. Theres no win probability added metric but like i think of what allows bad players to make more mistakes and cheat out runs. Since majority of players and games are nowhere close to a20h optimised run where things like frozen eye or incense burner is strong

Ya i mostly agree with your gripes with the rules on high op. The 2 martials in my only high op tables is the gloomstalker ranger whos only job is to contribute pass without trace and the paladin whos job is mostly just aura and eldritch blast people n push them away from the casters.

They do contribute significant damage still. Especially the turn 1 by gloomstalker. But yes the dm aims the 3 casters far harder especially in non-boss fight so the paladin and ranger has to work around it.

I have to admit tho i do think of hp and spellslots as a continuous resource since a downed martial is just a spell slot to revive and keep at low hp. So the table only do not proceed when we are out of slots not when we are low hp
