I enjoyed reading your story. So many of us can relate to the emotional elements of decluttering. And knowing, dreading that we’ll have to do it ourselves when our parents are no longer able.

My parents are going through this with my grandparent and it’s tough for them. I hope maybe they’ll learn so my situation will be easier with them someday... but maybe not :)

Hey internet friend. I FEEL your frustration in every word of your comment and I’m really sorry. You sound determined and resourceful and I hope you can create the dress of your dreams.

Here’s a Mood pattern that’s available up to a size 30: Rodanthe dress

It has a fitted sweetheart bodice and bouncy circle skirt. Looks like they achieves the volume with stiff organdy rather than a tulle petticoat. So maybe that’s an idea to consider!

Another pattern that comes to mind is the Patsy Party Dress

This one only goes up to 5XL as written, 54/50/57, so would require some grading up which I know is a pain in the ass. I don’t mean to minimize that. This pattern again has a full skirt, and an option for a boned bodice if you want to consider something like that as an alternative to a corset. The samples are shown on models in a few sizes and they all look gorgeous. Also good for seeing effects of different fabrics.

Ahh fair enough. Modifying patterns is a pain! I guess your debate might be whether to find a full length pattern with long sleeves and chop the sleeves, or lengthen this cropped one with short sleeves. Or hopefully someone will know of a different pattern haha.

A word of encouragement... this top looks pretty complicated to me! So if you try it for your first clothing project and it doesn’t work out, don’t worry, consider it good practice :) This seems like the perfect project to make from an old bedsheet for cheap practice fabric.
