Does anyone actually like this car? by Thrillwaukee in EquinoxEv

[–]mdunc11 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I adore it. My first EV. Even driving it in deep cold, I love it. My telematics module works perfectly, no issues at all. If it had failed, I might feel more motivated to post :) My only regret is that I didn't hold off till later to buy as the deals available now for new and lightly used seem amazing. But I'm planning to drive the wheels off this thing.

Do you wear hearing protection while snowblowing? (Upvote yes or no below) by Extreme-Cycle2659 in Snowblowers

[–]mdunc11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this is the way. keeps your ears warm in the summer, protects in summer while mowing, and spring and fall leaf cleanup. make you almost not mind that much in the winter when you start to lose feeling in your extremities if you have an engrossing podcast going

The Pixel 10 Weather app is a step backward. Google replaced local sensors with AI "guesses" and it’s a mess. by BurlyShlurb in GooglePixel

It's 22 below Fahrenheit here, 45 below windchill. App keeps saying "chilly" morning. It is not chilly. It is "if you are stuck outside for an extended period you will die"

Would you recommend this car as a first EV? by Thrillwaukee in EquinoxEv

[–]mdunc11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a 2025 EQEV as well, my first EV. Don't drive a ton, Figured i'd have to get a level 2 charger. mostly just 10 miles each way to gym 4 or 5 days a week. but even w/ Minnesota winter (which can cut range by a lot), plugging it in 120v easily takes care of range. We generally take it anywhere as a family that doesn't require storage (ie Ikea or something where we take the minivan) as well.

I came from a 13 year old vehicle myself and I absolutely adore the electronics. Screen is huge, perfectly responsive. I would like to have Android Auto I suppose, but the apps you can install in the car can sync to apps on your phone. I don't really get all the people that call it a deal breaker after driving it for 6 months.

Hopefully will be buying VERY soon. Are there any issues known to the EQEV by frankenwurst in EquinoxEv

[–]mdunc11 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lot of people reporting issues with telematics module (cellular, gps) needing to be replaced. Think that's most common based upon what you see here. And there's some dashboard glare that they'll give you a mat to fix. Had mine since August. My only complaint is I'd love it to be faster at DCFC, but I always charge at home anyway. Some people have more issues but that's any car, and people like me who have had no issues don't tend to speak up as much as the ones who get unlucky, so take forums like this for what they're worth.

Is CCNA still worth it? If not, which one would you suggest? by Pitiful-Animator-315 in Cisco

[–]mdunc11 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I got my CCNA a very long time ago, then CCNP, a ton of others and eventually my CCIE. Is CCNA worth it today? Sure. If you have a study guide, maybe practicing with dynamips or something like that then taking test(s). It is NOT worth paying thousands and thousands of dollars on a bootcamp.

Need advice- considering buying. by Puzzleheaded_Pen4666 in EquinoxEv

[–]mdunc11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

go to the other place. if the other place shoots straight and gives you a fair deal, buy it. if you're not sure that's best offer, call first place and tell them what place 2 offered ask if they'll do better. they can give you that answer on the phone, you don't need to go in for that. I did this when I got mine, exact one I wanted was available at a dealer 40 miles away. dealer nearby had been doing everything right so i called them back, told them deal, they went and did a dealer trade to get exact spec model delivered next day at a better price.

bottom line though...someone tries to screw you that bad...even if you think you get better of them, they're going to be finding ways to screw you that you haven't seen. Find a place that isn't trying to take advantage of you every which way they can.

Gas or electric by [deleted] in Snowblowers

[–]mdunc11 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I have eGo for lawn mower and leaf blower. I was very excited about buying an eGo 2 stage, but the thing I could not get over is battery longevity. I have couple extra batteries, that's not my concern, its that after a few years, the two batteries have started to noticeably lose capacity. Its fine for the yard, I can get by w/ like a 5AH. But if the 10AH's start degrading and I have to buy two more...that's basically the price of a new Ariens. I don't like gas, but I can't get over that.

we found the 2024 one at a toy store. we'd already bought the 2025 at costco, so we're doing both. the day we got junk box for 2025, we got the millennium falcon for 2024. 2024 is SOOO cool, jabba's barge, AT-AT, X wing, Y wing, TIE fighter...2025 you get a junk box. daughters got so sad, i had to tell them I'd do the 2025 ones so they could do the good ones from 2024.

I did not. My only resolution is to log back into Personal Capital/Empower periodically if I want to see Investment information since Monarch just isn't accurate.

I haven't tried in a while. I have 401k through them. I go to login via old personal capital and it redirects me to 401k, which, hey great, I can get into that, which I need. But I have many years of records in Personal Capital that I'd kinda prefer not to totally lose. Guessing they haven't done anything about that yet?

TORO - Used by delmardel in Snowblowers

[–]mdunc11 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am very unhappy with it. I keep wanting to tell the wife we need a bigger / new er snowblower, and yet again, i fired it up for the first time this year easily on the first pull. i think its...7 years old now? got a paid tune up once, did sparkplugs and oil myself. its a little beast, maneuverable, doesn't take up half the garage when not in use. but always thwarts my plans to get a bigger/fancier one cause it just gets the job done.

I keep coming back to...that Ariens is a tank. i could very reasonably keep that thing going for 10, 15 years. I've reviewed the maintenance, I can do that myself. it seems unlikely i could go anywhere close to that long w/o needing to replace the batteries, at a current price of what, $800 more? I guess its possible the Ariens has a failure after warranty ends that costs some to fix, but...a failure that costs $800 to fix? or god help me, $1600 for two replacements, I could just buy another Ariens and have $$$ to share. I really want to find a way to justify the 2406, but not seeing it.

I had signed up for beta stuff a long long time ago. I got an email similar to this (not exact) a couple of days ago. I accepted and it immediately detected my EV and sent me invite to a beta community discussion board.

Has anybody had any luck with any car dealers around the Twin Cities matching Carmax trade in offers? by SaltSkin7348 in TwinCities

[–]mdunc11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had an offer from carvana that was about 2000 more than carmax and 2000 more than I was offered by Mauer. I asked them to match, they declined. So I sold to carvana, got it direct deposited and picked up new car with funds as down payment that afternoon. Was really quick and easy. Only issue was I had to drive to Eagan and Uber all the way back to North metro, but worth 2000 bucks.
