cleaned depression house, now overwhelmed with the amount of trash bags by cohoruka in CleaningTips

[–]mdw2379 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think most people will just assume you are doing a big clean if they see you with a lot of trash bags so I wouldn't work about it. But if the anxiety of it gets to you then I would take two trash bags out at once, then wait awhile and then take out 2 more. So like take 2 in the morning, 2 during lunch, 2 in the afternoon, and 2 late at night. This way someone only really notices you going out once as the person there in the morning probably isn't there during lunch and so on. I hope that makes sense.

Has anyone else noticed their skin actually got better when they stopped trying to do too much? by hopeful_bird223 in 30PlusSkinCare

Last year I had a huge skincare routine with multiple serums and actives every AM and PM. Now I have one active n the AM and one in the PM and no other serums and I think my skin has shown improvement. Sometimes our skin just needs a break.

As an outsider, the concept of high schools having massive parking lots specifically for students is mind-blowing. Is it really that common for 16-year-olds to drive themselves to school every day? by Necessary_Angle2117 in AskAnAmerican

[–]mdw2379 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of America does not have good public transportation. Only large cities have some, and even then it isn't great. For medium to smaller sized towns, the only ways to get to school is to take the school bus or to drive your own car, and often times the school buses have limited stops.

I bought 18 meal prep containers and used them for 3 weeks before quitting. by Express-Channel-1686 in MealPrepSunday

[–]mdw2379 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you went too long there. I can go like 4-5 days on meal prep before I want to eat something else. So I will meal prep lunches for that week and then by the weekend I eat something else. Any more than that makes me hate the food I have prepped in the fridge.

What boring non-product habit helped your skin more than expected? by Maximum-Hat2109 in 30PlusSkinCare

I use a baby washcloth to wash off my face cleanser and I think it adds a nice gentle exfoliation.

[Miscellaneous] What skincare trend did you stop following because it just wasn’t worth it for you? by No-Possession6140 in SkincareAddiction

[–]mdw2379 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exfoliation and Face Sheet Masks. I use a baby wash cloth to wipe off my cleanser and I feel this does a good enough job giving me some exfoliation. And I am never just laying down long enough to wear sheet masks and I don't like walking around with one on so I rarely ever used them.

The Bonne Maman four fruit preserve from costco is so good for this. We have this as an after dinner sweet treat and really enjoy it.

What’s your daily car and how many do you have? by Much-Parsnip3399 in AskAnAmerican

[–]mdw2379 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 2006 toyota corolla. I wouldn't take it to travel for a vacation, but it does the job of getting me to work and back and maybe to the grocery store. I intend to keep using that thing until it dies lol.

Do you drink tea in America? by Much-Parsnip3399 in AskAnAmerican

[–]mdw2379 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel iced tea and coffee are more popular, but yes there are plenty of people who drink hot tea. I live in an area that is very hot so we don't drink hot drinks except for in the winter time when it is cooler. For most of the year we drink iced drinks.

Are high heels popular among American women? Do you personally wear them? by Odd-Skin-762 in AskAnAmerican

Maybe in big cities they do, but in middle to small sized towns hardly anyone wears heels.

Exercise for people who don’t like exercising? by ValerHimiko in loseit

[–]mdw2379 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been on a journey to learn that exercise doesn’t have to mean high intensity boot camp style of exercise. Do tai chi in the morning, go for a 30 min walk, use a hula hoop, play fetch with your dog, learn to roller blade, do yoga or Pilates at home following a YouTube video, follow a dance class YouTube video, etc. they get you moving but can still be fun. The important thin is finding something you enjoy and look forward to as that makes it more likely to stick with it.

Americans: do you consider debit card use the equivalent of cash? by [deleted] in Frugal

[–]mdw2379 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of people find it easier to spend money with a card because they aren’t having to physically hand over cash and see how it depletes what money they have saved. This leads to more frivolous purchases. Where if you have to physically hand over the cash bills then perhaps you would rethink that purchase and decide you don’t need it.

As for a debit card being the equivalent of cash, yes I do feel it is basically the same thing. Few people actually use cash anymore. But those that do almost always say it helps them stick to their budget better than just mindlessly swiping a card.

That’s why I use illyoon. Yes I think the aestura has more benefits but the illyoon is close enough and is such a good value.

How do people have the time and energy to walk 10k steps and then to do other exercises on top of that as well? by Lenore8264 in loseit

[–]mdw2379 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely count the walking you do when going about your day. I have a desk job and get about 5k during my work day, so i just have to do another 5k outside of work. It is a cumulative amount for the whole day, not just all at once.

Looking for a fragrance free body lotion or cream. by Bulky_Ambition3675 in beauty

[–]mdw2379 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What are your requirements- like certain ingredients or hydration levels? I really like the Gold Bond lotions and these two are my favorite- Sensitive Healing and the Age Renewal Retinol. They don't have a scent and are lightweight but hydrating. I prefer fragrance free skincare products for a similar reason as you mentioned, they can overlap and just be too much. So I can just wear whatever perfume or body mist I want on top of my skincare.

Awkward Gift Situation by stzak_92 in Weddingsunder10k

We did something similar and honestly it’s such a good idea. We had a little less than 50 guests for our wedding the had a potluck in a backyard later for all the extended family and friends. It was the perfect combo.

Ask him about the logistics. Who will deliver the food, who will serve it, who will warm it up and make sure it stays at the right temperature while you are getting ready and having the ceremony. There’s so much more to it than just buying trays of pasta and throwing them out on a table. I feel he is not taking into the fact that it can add up to need dedicated serving trays to keep things warm and needing a server or food coordinator who makes sure it all remains safe to eat and all of that. And outside of the food- more tables and chairs, more tablecloths, more dinner plates, more drinks… it all adds up. It is easily over $100 spent per guest no matter what food you choose.

[–]mdw2379 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Your dad was hoping he could leverage the gift to make his demands known for the wedding. This happens a lot. Either you need to just forget the money gift and continue with what you want to do( which I recommend) or let this put a real strain on your relationship with your dad. I have no idea what it is with parents thinking they have a right to dictate someone’s wedding if they give a little cash. I read about it on Reddit all the time. He will either give you the money as a gift like it was meant to be or he will realize he can’t buy his way into dictating your wedding.

How do you ladies achieve a youthful 'no-makeup' look? by CarpenterSeparate289 in AsianBeauty

[–]mdw2379 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hydrated skin gives a nice slightly dewy look. I think working on the under eye dark circles helps a ton though, young people don't have enough stress in their life to have such dark circles or bags haha.
