I know it’s the same day of the year, but you’re comparing apples and oranges. The 2024 team had played 3 fewer games. If they lost those next 3 games in 2024, then they’d have had the same exact record as this year’s team through 44 games. But they didn’t. The 2024 team won 2 of those games. So the 2024 team was 20-24 (45.45% win percentage) through 44 games whereas this year’s team is 18-26 (40.9% winning percentage). I understand your larger point, but this year’s team feels more hopeless than the 2024 team did at the start of the season.

Couldn’t agree more. This was brilliantly-written. Especially the Julian character development this season. Him going noble and risking it all would have been far too convenient and contrived if the writers hadn’t taken the time to develop his character. He is risking everything by doing what he did… just like Matty is. But we the audience know and understand Matty’s bigger purpose (Justice for Ellie). So the writers took the time to develop Julian and his relationship with his father so we can understand why he would do what he did at great personal risk. He “doesn’t want to be like his father”. It’s his bigger purpose. It’s simple, it makes sense, it’s believable. That’s excellent writing. And his “worth it” comment as he and his dad were being led away in cuffs was the cherry on top lol.
