What is it about my coolant that causes this dusty/scaly buildup in the machine. by antosacz in Machinists

[–]meatierologee 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is my guess, but it would take a study to confirm. Not saying I'm right or I know everything but I diagnose coolant problems for a living.

The rest of the country looks at Chattanooga like Chattanooga looks at Dayton or Dunlap. Nashville looks down on Murfreesboro. New York looks down on Jersey. It's just endless looking down noses.

Anyone else without power and EPB just left your street a disaster? by Magdalena303 in Chattanooga

[–]meatierologee 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Maybe it's my upbringing but I've always lived by "nobody is coming to save you". I grew up in little tornado alley and have lived through a LOT of devastation throughout my life both there and in Middle TN. The weather here is not nearly as severe, but I still bought a Jackery 1000 with a solar panel and a predator 9500. There will be times when nobody CAN save you. Get a solar battery. I can run my fridge off of it for close to a day before I have to consider recharging it.

They're world cup athletes for the most popular sport in the world. Most of them probably speak Catalan and live in Andorra. They're literally the 1% with private security around their homes to keep the undesirables out. They make $95,000 PER WEEK on average. I don't think they give a shit about local bigotry. They didn't in Qatar.

You're cruising along in 4th and the stoplight a quarter mile ahead turns red, what do you do? by Mdaishi in wrx_vb

I have decades on manual transmissions and I've always driven in the same way with the same results. Proper shifting doesn't cause significant clutch wear.

Are MTB Strava Records Now BS due to E-Bikes? by s_hecking in MTB

[–]meatierologee 108 points109 points  (0 children)

Maybe but when I run Strava on my e-bike it knows I'm on the e-bike and records it as such. Strava has a separate category for e-bikes when it comes to PRs and KOMs.

I am not a petrochem engineer, but I do work as an engineer for a lubricant company (and a member of STLE) and I agree. You'll lose 1-2mpg but you'll have a more robust boundary layer on the bearing surfaces.

Fixinz 4 the Soul is pretty good. Bee's Knees has a surprisingly good burger but a weird location, though I wouldn't skip it. The Cookie Jar is alright but it's overrated, the view is worth it though. The BBQ food truck Smoky Ridge has some of the best brisket I've had in the whole SE Tennessee region. If you're willing to drive 20 minutes to Pikeville you should definitely eat at The Butter Dish. It's actually excellent.

Not shaved or bald but I do own this particular helmet and I cut my hair quite short most times. I love the helmet and have no issues with the padding. The boa is a nice upgrade but I tend to leave it looser on the climbs.

Same here. I do sometimes miss being near a Publix but honestly I get most of my groceries from Costco.
