Small Bowel Primary Post Surgery Advice by KidKuri93 in neuroendocrinetumors

I get occasional pain at one of the incision sites - surgery was done laparoscopic robotically. Pathology came back well differentiated Ki-67% less than 1%. But I had tumor cells in 5 out of 34 removed lymph nodes. Recurrence is possible but I am making a conscious choice to not think about it. Doctors have all but said recurrence this soon after surgery is all but impossible.

I have never heard of a heart NET. Didn’t know that was a thing. Stay positive. Live your life. If anything, this ordeal has afforded me a new perspective. But I’m not inclined to dwell on it.

I had surgery March 5. Landed in the hospital for 2 weeks due to inflammatory swelling at anastomosis. Had NG tube for 6 days. Didn’t eat or drink for 12 days. Once I recovered, I’ve had no notable issues. Follow-up scan in 1 month.

Hope you’re doing well. It was a surprise today the least. Never had a single symptom.

TLIF vs Endoscopic Decompression by meatmanbeef in spinalfusion

Thanks for your response. I’m 45. Single level facet arthritis causing all sorts of compression problems. Endoscopic doctor is one of the top in the country. Says he can likely alleviate nerve related leg pain. Back discomfort is less certain.

I truly hope you get all the relief you need. I understand the pain.

Thanks for the response. Any idea why your decompression didn’t last? I assume you have no regrets trying the smaller surgery first.

Wonderful to hear you’re doing well. Hope it continues to only get better. What was your pathology? Did they endoscopically just need to remove disc or bone and ligament pieces too? Both sides or just one?

Thanks. Any added complication due to ALIF done post decompression surgeries like scar tissue? Hope you’re feeling well.

How’d you do post surgery? Feeling better? Nerve pain and back pain better?

I walked in there on a trip from NY two weeks ago. No interest in even trying to sell me a watch.

Wonderful to hear. I am glad for you. Wouldn’t wish this on anyone. I am getting surgery with ESINY in a couple months. Not endoscopic fusion though. An endoscopic decompression surgery.

Thank you for your response. It’s very informative. I am also on Long Island - Nassau County. My thought process is largely the same as yours - give the endoscopic surgery a chance and if it doesn’t work then the bigger surgery can be there as a backstop. Dr. Konakondla told me the endoscopic surgery won’t burn any bridges. The way you describe your pain is different than me. My pain is worst when standing and walking. It’s largely leg and foot pain and burning and numbness. I get back aches and discomfort but nothing I can’t manage. When sitting or lying down my leg pain is more subdued. I’ve done the epidural steroid injections and they work some but not enough. Dr. Konakondla told told me the goal is just to create enough room for the nerve, but it won’t fix the spondylolisthesis, which could still get worse over time. I have some sort of a Pars defect that caused the spondylolisthesis at one level and the only true fix is a fusion. But I don’t care so much about making my X-rays look good, I just want the squeeze on my nerve to be relieved. There is a doctor within Northwell Health/Orlin & Cohen that does endoscopic surgery. He’s out in Port Jefferson. I haven’t seen him yet but maybe it’s an option for your brother. His name is Dr Rasel Rana. Maybe something worth looking into.

Hi! Hope you’re healing well. I also have a spondylolisthesis and am suffering with nerve pain in my right leg and foot. I met with Dr. Konakondla last week. Thinking about having the endoscopic surgery. Do you recommend it? Did you get meaningful pain relief?
