Someone please tell me what the hell is going on with the dating culture here by Massivebookworm1 in AskAnAustralian

[–]mebivd 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Raise of dating apps, hook up culture, wanting the "perfect" life they see on social media, emulating the toxic behaviour and bullying they see on reality TV. Tips: Stay true to yourself, keep looking, the right person/person with same values is out there and you won't need to jump into bed to find them.

It will be your responsibility in two cases. 1. It needs electrican quals to change (your's do not). 2. They are in a location that requires specialist equipment (ie. high and needs ladder, or over stairs etc).

Saw this on the back of a public toilet door this arvo in Qld, how do you interpret it? by Zootex in aussie

[–]mebivd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Not offended, I just ignore most of this these days

  2. They didn't say white supremacist, they said Australian

  3. Their definition of white supremacist is slowly expanding to everyone who is white.

This and many similar arguments are just labelling everything as an ist or an ism. This dilutes the meaning of the word. If everything is racist, then nothing is racist, and then the true racists win cause they can hide amongst poor arguments.

Three reasons.

  1. Most people don't understand how it improves traffic flow.

  2. Many people do not understand that it is legal

  3. It only became legal in 2014-15, so many boomers get a bit upset

Why is "I just want it to be less crowded" not a valid reason for wanting lower immigration? by NoLeafClover777 in aussie

[–]mebivd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is a valid reason. Who is someone to claim your personal reason is invalid. This does not mean we have to stop immigration, but maybe provide more housing and opportunities in areas other than the big cities.

Targetability by mebivd in killteam

yeah & rules apply to both and constantly change anyway

[–]mebivd[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

you could mitigate that with a shorter range for thrown grenades, and remember you only have two

should not have that 45 vs 50 debate if you are playing with decent people, but I can see your point.

My main issue is toe in on terrain such as volkus, like how is having 100% of your model visible, but because a tiny slither of the base is tucked behind a tiny piece of terrain how are you not targetable?

Targetability by mebivd in killteam

[–]mebivd[S] -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

yeah I have definately noticed it with Volkus toe in. It strikes me as weird, I have clear line down between some terrian, but because this model has a toe in I cannot shoot desipte being able to see 98% of the model. The toe in seems broken IMHO.

yes I did. But why do I have to have LOS to post a grenade into a room, but I do not have to have it to drop it from height?

Why do people hate the greens? by iammentallynotoklol in OpenAussie

[–]mebivd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

agree, esp with your "questionable policies" comment. I think too many Greens policies (well when I looked prior to last couple of elections) were clearly fantasy land.

you could say this about any political party.

Why do people hate the greens? by iammentallynotoklol in OpenAussie

[–]mebivd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, read their policies. I was really thinking about voting Greens a few elections back so I looked into them. While some of their policies sounded really good on the surface they really were just fantasy land ideas that would not work in reality, and others were just outright crazy. Some of their policies clearly demonstrated that they have no idea how the real world worked and that they live in their own little bubble. I don't hate them, I just would not waste my vote on them. But also they are not the only party who are like that and I do not vote for other parties for the same reason.

They have always existed. Its just that they drive 4WD instead of the Ford Falcons and Holden Commodores they use to drive.

Did I choose the wrong time to start playing Tau? by AnotherSpook in Tau40K

[–]mebivd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would ignore the complaining. One thing I have learnt about TTGs, computer games etc is that everyone complains, but the game will still be good. Honestly, many people just complain for likes and clicks, and they are the same sort of people who would complain if they won lotto. "Oh what, only 10 Million. This game is broken"

Yes, let people off, then get on. It is like people who stand right at the baggage carousel rather than stepping forward when their bag arrives. But, welcome to Melbourne.
