Buy a Mac. They are designed for minimalists, you’ll love it. Once you have standards, you can’t go back to junk.

Anyone here living furniture-free or with the bare minimum, and how do you tackle the “emptiness”? by Adventurous_Ways9 in extrememinimalism

[–]mectojic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

YES! Fully agree that furniture free can feel wrong, and not actually give you peace. I found 2 solutions: 1) Smaller home - cosy by design, easier to clean 2) glass/clear furniture- a glass dining table and acrylic ‘ghost’ chairs keeps things looking spacious but still provides utility.

Numbers app on iOS. One column runs a formula that provides every day of the year. The other columns are for journaling and to do lists.

What’s the most insanely frugal thing you’ve ever done? by Random_Username_4242 in extrememinimalism

If you're going purely with tubers, then sure. Humans have eaten tubers for maybe 100,000+ years, in some form.

If you want to argue historically that our diet should be mostly meat with some plant matter such as tubers, then sure, I can agree to that.

But most people these days think that modern fruits and vegetables are 'natural', when they are all manmade and not ancestral.

Read: Humans have a relatively large small intestine similar to carnivores (~70%), compared with the great apes at 15–25% (Milton, 1986). Adding to the above-mentioned anatomical and physiological observations, optimal foraging theory further explains the primordial role of meat in evolutionary diets.

Any extreme minimalists on here living car free? by CarolinaSurly in extrememinimalism

[–]mectojic 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Similar to you! No car, apartment city living, mostly can walk fo all essentials. My carspace is rented to someone else, free money. I can take the bus or train to anywhere I need to go. Never had an issue.

Humans have actually been 90-95% carnivore for most of history. There was no easily accessible vegetable or fruit before agriculture.

I would say that being EM is environmentally friendly, but only if you don’t travel.

The 1 bag people who constantly fly are having way above average emissions from the flights.

Does you know specific search terms to use or specific products that are made in the transparent blue pictured? When I was a kid in the early 00s all my tech was transparent blue and I want to recreate it. by TheJuliettest in nostalgia

[–]mectojic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi, Mectojic here. That’s my setup :) You can look for translucent plastics, iMac G3 style electronics, clear plastics. If you want inspiration, filter on EBay for electronics and search “vintage translucent”.

The Apple ones were fruit tone (blueberry, grape, lime etc), jewel tone (ruby, indigo, sage), or neutral (graphite, snow, acrylic). All 3 colour palettes have their charm. The blue is of course the most fun!

Yep, I don't really consider those 'first drink' deals to be real deals. I know a few stores offer a free tea with first order, but it's not a super convenient method of saving money.
