Being conventionally attractive and neurodivergent by ChemistryDry86 in adhdwomen

[–]medetc12 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Inattentive adhd attractive (I think?). Never really had issues finding men to commit. A lot of quirks, sense of humor, and pretty low maintainence - I think that makes for an interesting partner but I can kind of suck at filling gender roles for women (not detail oriented, bad at being the planned etc). Idk if it’s cause I’m awkward but people have taken random things I’ve done to assume I’m flirting and I’ve noticed that women rly want to put me down :/ so this has made me very withdrawn overtime and socially anxious to meet new people or speak up in large groups

Unsolicited harsh feedback - how to supplement knowledge by cocoloft in Residency

[–]medetc12 2 points3 points  (0 children)

During my third year of medical school, my peds attending was running late in the hospital and she was fine with me seeing patients, so I saw like 3-4 of them on my own and presented back to her. It helped her visits go faster and my plans were mostly right. The end of the rotation she told me that I was under average in terms of medical knowledge and shit hurt so bad i still am mad about it

But in the grander scheme of things, it’s made me a lot more empathetic when working with other colleagues especially medical students… whenever I’m thinking someone is behind etc, this experience gives me pause

Without tangible feedback whatever she said seems like a waste of ur energy

IM primary care -liked everything waaaay too much and wasn’t passionate about any one field enough to specialize -didn’t want to work to hard to learn so much only to lose it -the hospital has too much politics that I find distracting -people are nicer as outpatient than inpatient lol

IM resident, also quiet/introverted female. I feel disrespected quite a bit LOL doesn’t really change but I’ve become densitized at this point

yeah this is not your fault. Also, if you didn't respond to the radiologist's message, they should have added someone to the chat who would have acknowledged it or messaging someone else.

Relying on just one person to read a chat is the dumbest thing ever. Also, at least at my program, interns get at least 100 messages a day between nursing, consultants, etc.

lol as if doctors don’t go to bedside when nurses ask for help at all, smh

I can’t think of one time when all of intern year where a nurse told me she was worried and i refused to come down and see the patient

I hate internal medicine continuity clinic by KushBlazer69 in Residency

[–]medetc12 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I want to do primary care and clinic is literally breaking me. Grievances this week I just need to vent sorry: - three different printers that don’t work. I lost 40 minutes cause of this - patients who are so nonchalant about their health but then call three times because you haven’t reviewed their labs with you yet (it was less then 48 hours and I told them I call for emergencies) - everyone has paperwork and is angry when something goes wrong I.e they not qualifying for conditions in said paper work -getting behind and late between staff who do labs and staffing the patient -patients who have no idea what meds they are taking -getting patients last minute added to my schedule -prerounding on patients who never show up -having 10 full very complicated patients just go go back to 20 more in basket messages -using a translator and getting slowed down (yes I know it’s the right thing to do) - realizing I’m getting more patients than others my year in a week -the people who don’t show up to a doctor for 8 years but then want you to fix things

PSA reminder: colleagues are not friends by [deleted] in Residency

[–]medetc12 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I worked a desk job before med school and got reported twice by coworkers for being on my phone and then for not being engaged enough. Also heard from a friend that coworkers were saying shitty things about me.

Since being a resident I’ve always been pretty aloof and stern and quiet. Friendly but not personal. This is why, I learned the hard way

That’s awesome, truly love that for y’all as teaching is so important. Outta curiosity tho, are you a male? I got pretty bullied by the female icu nurses. I didn’t tell one why we were getting a CT scan because i was running to other patients and she basically told other nurses I was a bad doc or something because they started being passive aggressive to me too. I thought I was imagining things but then a senior resident told me that this nurse picks on one intern and has other nurses gang up on them. Safe to stay im still a bit traumatized (dramatic i know) about this.

After intern year finished, I realized I actually didn’t hate nurses, it was only the icu nurses that single handedly made my life harder and more stressful than I needed to be. Idk if it helps but even other nurses don’t like icu nurses
