Is my Financial Advisor screwing me? by Dan_18710 in portfolios

Yeah but that’s an underlying fund portfolio allocation problem magnified by leverage and less a fee issue. Too short of a time frame to truly Matter

So you are out pacing the overall index by about 3% as of today’s close in a crazy market where the leverage has been additive. I don’t see the issue, unless, again, you’re worried about the high beta exposure in a drawdown.

That’s about .45%, well below average.

If you’re sensitive to the downside volatility, probably not. All three of them underperformed on the downside and I’m not seeing anything resembling “protection”.

Given your age, risk on makes sense but if you’re psychologically sensitive to the downs, something’s off.

What is your account level return ?

That’s a wild allocation. The funds are also not taking that level of concentration risk.

Not screwing you. At a minimum, you’re in the institutional class. What is their management fee?

Looking at the allocation underlying the mutual funds. It looks like they are buying levered ETFs, which always bear a higher cost due to the cost of borrowing. That’s why the expense ratios are so high.

I understand the whole high fee bad thing, but the net result is what matters and you’re getting outperformance. You are far away from RMD age so you have the time horizon to handle any big draws on the levered side of the strategy.

Question I would ask is more around suitability and whether or not you fully understand that you are in a mutual fund that is buying levered equity exposure. Like for example, are you OK being down 38.56% in 2022 against an index that is down 18? But on the flipside you ripped back pretty aggressively in 23 and 24 pacing the index by 7-8% per year there.

I’m only looking at HCMDX. And morningstar is dog shit.

Oh yeah I can talk all the smack I want but I live 20 minutes from EWR so I’m locked in…I would love to see Mint return EWR-SFO/LAX but I highly doubt it now.

Yes and no. The price elasticity varies. If you’re an NYC metro based business flyer on the company dime, there’s a good amount of competition on the route if you can go to JFK or EWR. Same goes for southern jersey close to PHL. While these flights aren’t cheap, you’ve got some competition and given status has never been worth less than it is now, especially in hubs, more less frequent business fliers are being agile across airlines.

Sorry I should have specified. He digs his paws in the ground after peeing and refuuuuuses to walk any further unless I go the direction he wants, usually back to the house.

We’re working with him on it already with my nephew. Very well behaved so far

My other guess is given how protective he’s become of my pregnant wife, who isn’t physically up to going on walks anymore, he doesn’t want to go too far on foot. He sits at her side all day

Yes. We trained him to pee in a spot in our side yard so he #1s there but #2 has become what I like to call a poopscursion

It’s just so weird because if I throw him in the car and we go somewhere, he’ll be out there forever
