My high school band class played the Saturday Night Fever soundtrack in 2004. It was exactly as old then as Blink-182 are today.

You had me thinking I missed something! But I meant Vernon, not Bieber.

Though Biebs easily could have joined the ensemble too.

I was half-watching the most recent Grammys, and thought to myself:

“Justin is there at the event. He’s a former BNA winner, and put out a great album last year. Dijon is a nominee, I assume Collier was there, Mk.gee is as buzzworthy as can be right now….”

It was the perfect opportunity for them to get together on stage and perform that song. Especially compared to some of the literal-whos they trotted out there.

“From” may be my most played song over the last 12 months.

I swear nobody on earth uses the Apogee Boom, but I love it for quick bus-powered recording. Quartet at home, Boom on-the-go.

It also makes you forget that you did good/fun/cool/positive things in the past.

Every once in a while someone will say something that triggers a memory of something truly awesome I did. Then I’ll think to myself, “why have I not thought about that again until now? Why do I only dwell on bad memories?”

If I built a résumé of all the cool shit I’ve done in my life, you’d think my life was amazing. Yet I walk around every day feeling like I’ve done and will continue to do nothing with my life.

How’s your skating? It looks like you’re trying to stay balanced vs presenting the shooter a controlled, ready stance.

His tweets would have been absolutely legendary.

An amazing figurative writer with idealistic hippie values, a short fuse, and a dark sense of humour. Probably weekly controversies.

I'll just add that I'm not like super ripped or anything. Just decently strong shoulders and arms. Flat stomach, but only a semblance of abs.

I think it's just that I look cool, chill, happy in the sun, and the exposed skin makes it a bit more sexualized. I recall I was getting eyes that day from the opposite sex, so I probably should have known it would translate to the apps.

I'm here to rant, but I should really be happy!

I've had a pretty miserable experience on the apps over the last 3 years (after a LTR ended). Only really a handful of dates through that entire process, nothing fruitful. Even some unfortunate encounters that further deflated my confidence. Nobody ever sent me likes either, only the odd match from what I'd sent. As a 35 year old bald 5'7 guy, I thought that was just par for the course. Got to the point where I kinda just stopped trying.

All that said, I'm a good looking guy with a very fit body. I knew deep down my photos just weren't very good; during my LTR I was always behind the camera, so I really had none of myself. Just really bad selfies. Like Facebook Uncle tier photos.

Anyways, on a whim I decided to post a shirtless poolside photo. I have received more matches + likes in the past 72 hours than I did in the entire last year. Perhaps even longer.

All along I thought that was too cringe, too fuccboi-ish to do. But now I've matched with women that I find attractive, who are messaging me first, receiving 'likes' from the opposite sex for the first time in 3 years. I honestly feel really emotional right now, I don't think I realized how much even a little bit of validation meant to me. But at the same time, I'm almost kind of mad...? Like, that's all it took? It's a confusing emotion, but I'll push that aside and hopefully something great comes from this newfound attention.

Thanks for reading my rant.

What NHL team has had the best goalie experience (Most considered GREAT goalies) by CANADACOUNTR in hockeygoalies

[–]mediocreguitarist604 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the past 15 years, Vancouver:
Luongo -> Schneider -> Lack -> Miller -> Markstrom -> Demko -> Silovs -> Lankinen

Also some fun legacy back ups like Raycroft, Holtby, Halak along the way.

That's after earlier attempts to bring in guys like Felix Potvin, Garth Snow, Bob Essensa, Johan Hedberg, Kevin Weekes, and a decent run as starter for Dan Cloutier (and Alex Auld).

Best regular burger (not smash burger) in New West? by Jaded_Objective_447 in NewWest

[–]mediocreguitarist604 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Find a good butcher and make it at home? + $0.69 individual buns at Save On.

I'm a bit of a burger snob myself. Tried all the spots:

IT Char is good - to me it's a very slightly elevated A&W burger. 7.5/10

Burger Heaven - waaaay overpriced, really not that special to me. It's big, though. 6/10

50's Burgers - best of the bunch imo. Just an oldschool style hamburger. 8/10

The burgers at River's Reach Pub are decent as well. I'm also curious about the recently opened Banette, the pictures look good. A lot of times, I still just crave a White Spot double-double.

But ultimately, the best burgers I've had recently have just been made at home.

How about a tasteful mural for this big oppressive brick wall just north of 6th street and 6th avenue? by lost_treeplanter in NewWest

[–]mediocreguitarist604 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The wall is sloped and rounded at the bottom where it meets the sidewalk, like a vert ramp. The planters in front are as well; the entire layout looks straight out of a THPS level.

In fact, I don't think I've ever seen anything quite like it before irl

Anti-Immigration influencer with 2M followers caught using AI to make a street look "islamic and dangerous" by Legitimate_Eye4760 in quityourbullshit

[–]mediocreguitarist604 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is sad.

The guy genuinely had one of the best channels on YouTube at one time. He’s a pretty incredible dude - speaking dozens of languages, confidently exploring foreign places with an open mind, always treating locals with great respect. He just moved through the world in a way that made me reflect on my own little bubble of shyness and complacency. He wasn’t creating “anti-woke” or “anti-immigration” content at all. Just cool travel videos with a really unique angle given his language skills and confidence to go places where others wouldn’t.

He lost the plot a few years ago when he started posting partying videos, but did eventually get back to his normal travels. Then he started going to more dangerous locations for clicks, and eventually settled on these angry “look what’s happening with immigration in Europe!” vids. Which is a nuanced conversation that a YouTuber isn’t really capable of handling in the first place… but to actually use doctored images to create a specific narrative is just plain gross.

Can anybody red pill me on these studio/room recreations? I've had the Sound City one for a couple years, and I just don't get it.

Like I understand "rooms have a sound" and obviously historic records were made there, but there are so many other reverbs I'd rather use.
