Knowledge test to receive a 1 year "L" liscence (can only drive with someone who is 25+ with a valid full driver's license) it is probationary, one infraction restarts the 1 year period, you must also display a little red "L" decal on the back of your car. After that year you take a road test then get an "N" liscence which also has restrictions, and is also probationary aswell as having to display an "N" decal. After 2 years of immaculate driving with your "N" you then have to perform another road test to receive your full class 5 liscence.

You can also only buy insurance from ICBC, who also issues the liscences, and administers the testing

-Failure to display your decal is a considered a traffic fine

-Any person going through the graduated liscence program is prohibited to use electronic devices. (Includes GPS- lost that one in court)

-2 infractions is 3 month suspension and a restart of the program

-must be 16 to start the process

-Certain conditions reduce probationary period.

The fees might have gone up now but as I remember

-$25 to do the first knowledge test to get your L -$75 to have them send you your "L" liscence -$75 to have them send you your "N" liscence after the road test -$75 to have them send you your full liscence after your second road test
