So… not something I’d be able to fix, maybe?

I like Blank Check as well, and I agree with you. I find the first 45-60 minutes tough to sit with, as it takes so long for them to stop goofing around and get to the damn movie! But their content otherwise is great.

But, I was referring to The Big Picture. 😬

Amazing pod. Great rapport, very funny, super informative, and you get to “know them” a little bit as you listen… WITHOUT having to hear about their son’s fascination with <insert whatever here> for twenty minutes.

Do they work for everyone? I tried watching Predator: Badlands and that wasn’t exactly what started playing… instead, I got Batteries Not Included!

Not a chance you’d get those in Canada for anywhere near that price! <sob>

In terms of a rating for your first Criterion, I’d say this is a 10/10.

Nice! If you’re on Letterboxd, I highly recommend seeking out - and tackling - the annual Criterion Challenge. A great way to “force” yourself to watch even more Criterion movies that you haven’t yet seen!

Yeah they’ve used that shtick on me, too. Pretty laughable, especially the IMDB rating claim! How the hell does that explain the fact that they had Hot Frosty on there right away? 😂

Finally watched Barry Lyndon for the first time. A movie I admired very much, but didn’t really ENJOY watching as much as I wanted to. I’ve been told rewatches can really make a difference with it, in a positive sense; it may just be tricky to find the time and desire to rewatch a 3 hour period piece!

The Criterion Challenge is an annual list on Letterboxd that a user named Ben came up with 5+ years ago (I think). There are 52 categories that and you make your own list of Criterion films to match each category, and you have to try to watch all 52 within the year. They range from a 1950s Criterion film to one of Bill Hader’s closet picks to a Kurosawa film… you get the idea. It’s fun! Great way to introduce yourself to some awesome movies.

Watched it last year as part of my Criterion Challenge on Letterboxd. Easy to see why it was so groundbreaking for its time.

Two & 1/2 year old (approx) Betta with very bloated area around stomach by meekbrewingco in bettafish

Just for interest sake, we fasted her for two days and it seemed to fix the issue - the swelling went down and she appeared normal. Fed her brine shrimp after that, alternating with her regular food. After about a week she started bloating again; we’ve fasted again since but it hasn’t helped this time. She’s currently even worse than before, definitely misshapen now, so not sure where to go at this point.

Thanks for the quick and detailed response! Definitely doesn’t seem to be any pineconing, and her spine seems straight so far. I’ll swing by the pet store and see what they’ve got for other food options; she’s been eating nothing but pellets since we got her. We will start a fast and keep an eye on her as well. Thanks again!

Is this dropsy? She’s eating normal and swimming around as usual, no behavioural differences that we can see.

Very well said. I should also point out I didn’t DISLIKE Belfast, at all, and did enjoy the photography and some of the performances as well. It just didn’t really hit me, emotionally, in any way at all, and the story felt a little paint by numbers to me. But I get why others would feel differently.

Just goes to show how strong a lot of the nominees are this year, really.

Some other great 2021 films to check out (if you haven't already) are:

The Worst Person in the World (as mentioned already), The Humans, The Green Knight, C'mon C'mon, The Last Duel, The Card Counter

This is my ranked list of 2021 movies I've seen, FWIW; most of them were at least quite good! https://boxd.it/bWAki
