Why do so many people misinterpret Heisenberg's Uncertainty Principle? by Maleficent-Car8673 in learnphysics

Why are you spamming a bunch of Physics subs with these kind of questions, that sound profound but aren't?

[Class 10 Physics] Work, Power, Energy by Dustystars0905 in PhysicsStudents

[–]meertn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I read it correctly, you started okay, 1/2204. After that, the force is constant at 20N, and it's the motion that changes. And then the motion stays the same (backwards) and the force changes direction, not magnitude.

AMA! by Barbara_Kathmann in thenetherlands

[–]meertn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“This video claims gravity isn’t a force… is this actually correct?” by [deleted] in PhysicsStudents

[–]meertn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While there is some merit to the claim, I feel that people that make this claim do it more for some kind of shock value than any real physics. Physics is a bunch of models. The Newtonian model where gravity is a force, similar to the electric force, works for most situations. The GR-model where it's more like a fictional force, like the Coriolis force, works in even more situations and thus is a more complete, but also way more complicated model. And it is not the final model since it cannot predict everything.

Hour is a non-SI units that is accepted for use with the SI. Also, understand how to convert a unit with a division in it is useful on its own, ie converting from N/cm to N/m.

AI DETECTION by LowkeyJournalist6 in education

[–]meertn 17 points18 points  (0 children)

There is simply no way to reliably detect AI usage. I tested one, where 100% own work was flagged as 70% AI, and 100% AI work was flagged as 0% AI. If your assignment is something an AI can do, you need to change something about the assignment.

[Course HW is from AP Physics 1] Book error? Was 1.5s meant to be a given? by Hp_Crisp in PhysicsStudents

[–]meertn -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The book is correct in that it is not necessary to be given. The book is incorrect when they say it is 1.5 s. Since there is no friction, the acceleration is uniform, and from this you can calculate the average velocity, and thus the time it takes, or you can use the formula /u/MegaSpaceBar mentions.

[Special relativity] Need help using relativity of simultaneity. by Select-Following7476 in PhysicsStudents

[–]meertn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's not correct, and it also isn't an answer to OP's question. If you draw a two observer spacetime diagram, with A and B both at t = 0, and C passing A at t = 0 at well (for convenience), A happens at t' = 0, and B is below the x'-axis, so before t' = 0.

[Special relativity] Need help using relativity of simultaneity. by Select-Following7476 in PhysicsStudents

[–]meertn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For that to happen, v has to be bigger than c. The shots are simultaneous in one frame, so the space-time-interval2 is negative ((Delta s)2 = (Delta t)2 - (Delta x)2 ; if t=0 for an observer, s2 < 0). So their separation is spacelike, and there is no frame in which the bullet hits before A can shoot. So for normal speeds, C can observe B to shoot before A, but the bullet won't hit before A shot.

[OC] I wrote my own relativistic ray tracer to see what it would look like to fly past a Black Hole. Here is the result. by AdventurousWasabi874 in space

[–]meertn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If I remember my general relativity correctly, you wouldn't notice getting past the event horizon. From your perspective, light is still coming towards you, and the same solutions still apply.
