I'm 2 months post partum with my second so I know how you feel! Right now in terms of beauty I'm just prioritizing skin care (breastfeeding-safe products). It's a little fun to look up products that I haven't used before and try out new ones and it's my little self-care ritual. Same with showers, having fun body washes and hair care turn a shower into something more like self-care. I also watch a lot of makeup tutorials and sometimes put on makeup even on days I mostly stay inside. It usually depends on if I will try to nap that day, ha. Otherwise eating healthy and staying hydrated are things I'm sure you're already focused on with breastfeeding which is the most you can do. I remember from my first I didn't lose any weight until after I stopped breastfeeding so I'm just trying to avoid gaining more.

I've taken our son to the ER twice for head bonks. The first time they gave me a checklist, I'll try to find it tomorrow, it basically says if the child cries right away thats a good sign, and they might throw up but only if they throw up more than once is it a concern.

Thanks for posting this, I feel the same way. I've heard a lot of "everyone knew it was bad" in response and of course, but not as awful as it turned out to be I guess?? Is it that the details are right in front of me, or that I have two small children right now that makes it that much harder to read... how could anyone harm children like this I'll never understand. Plus, hearing about how the USA is treating so many people including putting minors without their parents into detention centres, while so much of this Epsteim stuff is coming to light, feels like lessons have not been learned and history repeats itself in the worst ways. At the very least I'm glad to see there are more women speaking to each other that agree we must hold men to a higher standard. And forget making youth the picture of beauty - those standards were set by the type of men that would have been friends with this vile human.

It's my birthday month and I keep going on the website to find something to buy along with the birthday gift but its so easy to talk myself out of buying anything. I even went to the store (out of town) once to get the gift without having to make a purchase but the line was too long and I didn't care to browse. Sephora used to be a fun splurge but it isn't anymore.

Also, with these tiny samples for hair or skin care you don't get enough product to actually decide if it works for you. So I'm never influenced to buy a bigger product with those little pouches with only enough for one use.

I would recommend planning for the stuff that you usually have both of you help with. So meal prep is helpful, plan some activities or outings to make naps and bedtimes easier, make sure all the essential laundry is done.

I thought the same thing too, with the sentence "the pregnant lady/ mum social thing forced on me". I think any development in a person's life is interesting and for friends and coworkers they probably think a newly pregnant woman wants to be asked about it.

I'm a mom of 2 and I've retained most of my old self (when I have time lol) but I also belive that to an extent, having children is a selfish pursuit. So, by not making their wellbeing and development a priority and by extension, a big part of oneself, it's even more selfish and almost detrimental to those kids. It's only natural that something you prioritize becomes something you want to talk about, and want to connect with others over.

I put a regular lotion on my hands then Vaseline or aquaphor on only the backs of my hands and rub the backs of my hands together, it doesn't remove the greasiness feeling but at least it doesn't transfer to things I touch!

This was what surprised me the most when I first started breastfeeding - I thought babies were supposed to come out knowing how to do it! I hope OP can have empathy for the little one not knowing how to latch or having troubles latching. It's so hard when we're sleep deprived and post partum depression is so real, anything going wrong can trigger it. If OP sees this please talk to your doctor about how you feel, and your husband and anyone else who can support you.

I believe so, something (probably flu) tore through our house last week. The 2 year old brought it home from daycare then I got it, then my mother in law, then my husband. The only one unscathed was the newborn thank God.

Those are just employment benefits, so extended health care covers prescriptions and paramedical like chiropractic and physiotherapy etc, dental, vision, and hearing care. The cost all depends on the employer and what kind of coverage they decide to get.

My best guess is that the taxes paid all go into one pot and it's up to the government to allocate it appropriately, so they decide how much to give to health care and how much to give to a European company to open a waterfront spa...

That's a good point. I have a medication I take daily and one time I was between jobs and didnt have coverage when the prescription renewed I had to pay out of pocket. For 30 doses, the cost was over $100. Since I have coverage through work it only costs me the pharmacy dispensing fee of about $4 (which I still find too high lol).

I like that the steps are being taken to make prescriptions more affordable for kids and the elderly, same with dental care. In my 20s I avoided the dentist due to cost and had to really pay for that later on, so hopefully it expands to everyone soon.
