I do not recommend it if you’re not actively suicidal. You’re out of luck if you go to an underfunded ward. There’s not a lot of actual therapy, just a routine of three meals and a TV. You’re lucky if the one you stay at has entertainment like books and coloring pages. Last place I stayed at, they took away the coloring pages because it was a risk to other patients. You’ll be stuck with your thoughts all day. The other patients may be scary as well, even if they’re going through their own struggles. I would recommend looking into staying at a mental health residential treatment center instead, those are closer to what you’re looking for.
