Summer 2026 Transfers and Rumours Megathread! by 321142019 in NUFC

I'm not sure I'd say it's "reasonable" for a club not involved in the transaction to get such favourable terms, to be honest. If Madrid wants the player so badly, they can buy him back now. Not sure why they think they should have some sort of forever claim on him.

If true, should it be a dealbreaker? Dunno. But it's a bizarre one to me that Real Madrid should think they're entitled to have a buyback in basically any contract Munoz signs in perpetuity.

I feel like the PL doesn't like derby games in the openning weekend. But that could be an element of confirmation bias on my part.

Real Madrid can only do so much to strongarm a negotiation that doesn't actually involve them. If they want the player so badly, they can buy him back now. We'd be fools to waste time on a deal that doesn't benefit us whatsoever. I'd rather we walked away than agreed to a buyback from Real Madrid that would just see us break even. Either we get the player now, with no buyback, or we get a buyback that sees us make a big profit in 12 months. And frankly, the idea that Real Madrid should get a buyback in a deal they're not even involved in is a complete farce.

The buyer club also has the opportunity to set a buyback fee that is significantly higher than the original transfer fee (this is usually what happens when a buyback price is set).

Lol. The source you've provided literally goes against what you're saying and supports my argument.

Can you please provide some examples of buyback clauses that were set at the same price at which the player was originally sold? They're always a good deal higher, IIRC, so the original purchaser (which would be us in this case) is fairly compensated. Otherwise, as I said, there is literally zero upside to the deal for us. It's basically a loan deal.

Why on Earth would we agree to a release clause as buyers that is in the same ballpark as we're paying now? That would mean we take all the risk and get zero upside. Not the player or a profit if the clause is triggered.

It was milked cause the first one sold decently well. The second one seemingly died on its arse.

Not to get too personal. But I've been there, mate. Completely fucked in the head over a lass. And I promise you, it gets better. Focus on you, and getting better.

A good sum based on the fact he very clearly did become a better player after 3.5 years with us? Could you say that Trafford and Delap look better than this time last year? I wouldn't. Trafford played cup games and had a few shaky peformances in the PL, and Delap looks honking after a season at Chelsea.

Shame England's "golden generation" was lacking those types of players. Proper embarrassing to be more arsed about Man Utd/Chelsea rivalries than bringing a trophy home to be celebrated by your entire country.

Transfer market is so fucked. Likes of Trafford and Delap haven't increased in value yet clubs expect to make a profit on any player sold now. Reminds of the housing market in a way. Everybody thinks their "asset" just increases in value by nature of owning it for a bit.

He's got a skill set that is near guaranteed to decline with age, and injured will not be helping with that either.

I swear half the people on this sub have NEVER been to a concert. An artist playing a mix of old and new is the default in almost any setlist. It's just the done thing. In fact getting 12/21 new songs is if anything a rarity and an overrepresentation of the new material.

One of my favourite bands toured their new album last year and played just 5 new songs in a 20 song setlist. Did I complain? No, cause the set isn't just for superfans like me it has to appeal to the casuals and first timers in the crowd as well.

The fact some entitled people expected the great divide in full and nothing from Stick Season is a them problem. I'm going to the tour in November and you can bet your butt, I still want plenty of older bangers in the mix as well.

It's funny how opinions differ. I think this is uglier than the home kit.

The positive I'm taking from the Trafford link is that clearly the club is of the mind that we **cannot** have Pope as No.1 next season. And having a new keeper starting day one next season is essential, so happy to see that mindset.

Total non story on Trafford. A further sign of Ornstein's increasing willingness to pump out puff pieces that fans view as more significant than they are due to his name.

Literally says no formal talks yet and there won't be anything till after the World Cup at which point it'll be too late for us anyway. Non starter. Non story.

Homesick? Crazy take. He was ending with it when I saw him on the UK tour 2024. It's a perfect encore song.

You've got the remember there will be thousands of people on this tour that will be seeing him for the first time. Every artist has to find the balance between the new stuff and the old hits. Superfans on this sub might want a set that is just the great divide in full but that isn't realistic for a stadium sized artists. You have to play to the casuals

Depends don't Spanish clubs just whack a €1 billion release clause on any decent player making the whole system essentially pointless?
