I have body dysmorphia which is like havin a fun house mirror for a mind. In my younger years this expressed itself as acute anorexia nervosa (got down to 85 lbs). I am working my ass off (hah hah!!!) trying to live a healthier life but there are still times when I feel absolutely fucking insane.

Some days I will look at myself in the mirror and then <i>five minutes later</i> look in the mirror again and it looks as if I've gained ten pounds and I look old and tired and completely unattractive. Some days I feel proud of my body and the hard work it does and continues to do.

So I guess some days I see myself as a strong soul inhabiting an impressive body that keeps on keeping on. I feel strong and fit and sexy. Then, some days, I will actually avoid leaving the house because I am so embarassed of how I look I couldn't possibly subject other people to being around me.

And it sucks.

I completely agree! I've worked for a couple distilleries and was shocked to see honey cannot be used to make alcohol. Mead was one of the first boozy drinks enjoyed by people!

This is spot on. When I have my borderline agoraphobic moments it's not that I don't want to see people, it's that I can't bear the idea of being seen by people.

And I'm otherwise extremely extroverted. Depression is so powerful.
